How to Make a Bumblebee Noisemaker
Summer is the perfect time to make some environmentally-friendly crafts. Save empty cardboard tubes and dig up an old bandana for this fun project. Learn how to make a Bumblebee Noisemaker from Heidi Borchers you can enjoy all year long.
Before you begin working on your noisemaker, decide how big you want your project to be. For a large bee, you can use a gift wrap roll and for a small bee, you can use a toilet paper roll. Snip ends and use Aleene's Tacky Glue to create a point and the bottom of the tube. Cut your old bandana into strips and glue the end of each strip to the end of the tube. Add barley (or any other dry beans) to the inside of the tube and glue a large bead to the top (this serves as the head of your bee). Create wings using leftovers from the cardboard tubes and cover them with fabric scraps. You can use rhinestones for the eyes and a permanent marker to create facial features.
