Worsted weight is usually the same thing as a number 4 that's listed on most skeins of yarn. I hope that helps. I had the same question when I first started.

How would I make this for an adult? Just a bigger hook or more stitches?

How do I make the cotton candy hat for a 2 year old. This pattern was made for my six year old and it works fine. What changes should be made to fit a smaller head. I love the pattern.
