Light Blue Scarf

A light blue scarf like this one is a great crochet pattern to have on-hand. You can wear it during the fall or winter season. It's an intermediate crochet pattern that's quick and easy.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:

Scarf measures approximately 7 3/4"/19.5 cm wide x 70 1/2"/179 cm long.

GAUGE

In cable pattern, 17 1/2 sts and 18 rows = 4"/10 cm.

STITCHES USED

Chain (ch), single crochet (sc), slip stitch (sl st).

MATERIALS

• Naturally Caron.com Spa (75% micro denier acrylic/25% bamboo; 3 oz/85 g, 251 yds/230 m skein): 12 oz. Shown in: #0005 Ocean Spray.
• One size US G-6 (4.25 mm) crochet hook or size to obtain gauge.
• Yarn needle

SPECIAL TERMS

FPdc: Front-post double crochet—Yarn over, insert hook from front to back and then to front again around post of stitch, yarn over and draw up loop, [yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook] twice.

Front Cross: Skip next 2 FPdc 2 rows below, FPdc around next 2 FPdc 2 rows below; working in front of the 2 FPdc just made, FPdc around first skipped FPdc, FPdc around 2nd skipped FPdc.

Back Cross: Skip next 2 FPdc 2 rows below, FPdc around next 2 FPdc 2 rows below; working behind the 2 FPdc just made, FPdc around first skipped FPdc, FPdc around 2nd skipped FPdc.

NOTES

1. When working FPdc, be sure to draw first loop up to height of working row, to avoid puckering the fabric.
    
2. The FPdc are worked around the post of FPdc 2 rows below the current row, except in Row 3 (where FPdc are worked around the post of sc 2 rows below). Do not work into the stitch of behind an FPdc.

Row 1 (RS): Work in back bumps of ch, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each remaining ch across, turn—30 sc.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first 4 sc, [FPdc around next sc 2 rows below] 6 times, sc in next 10 sc, [FPdc around next sc 2 rows below] 6 times, sc in last 4 sc, turn—18 sc, and 12 FPdc.

Rows 4 and all even-numbered (WS) rows: Ch 1, sc in each sc and FPdc across, turn—30 sc.

EDGING

Round 1 (WS): Ch 1, sc evenly spaced along all edges of scarf, working 3 sc in each corner; join with sl st in first sc, turn.

Round 2 (RS): Ch 1, sc in first st, ch 3, *skip next sc, sc in next sc, ch 3; rep from * around; join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

FINISHING

Using yarn needle, weave in all ends.
