A Crochet Shawl
Celebrate life and love with this pink Crochet Shawl from Bernat Yarns. Materials:
- 3 balls Bernat® Satin (120 g/4.2 oz; 230 m/251 yds) in Flamingo
- Size 5.5 mm (U.S. I or 9) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
Gauge: 7 sps and 6 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in pat.
Measurements: Approx 57 ins [144.5 cm] wide x 31 ins [78.5 cm] deep.
Instructions:
Note: sp(s) = space(s). Pattern is calculated in spaces throughout.
- Ch 201.
- 1st row: (WS). 1 dc in 5th ch from hook (counts as 1 dc and ch-1 sp). *Ch 1. Miss next ch. 1 dc in next ch. Rep from * across. 99 sps. Turn.
- 2nd row: Ch 4. Miss first ch-1 sp. 1 dc in next dc. (Ch 1. Miss next ch-1 sp. 1 dc in next dc) twice. *(Yoh and draw up a loop. Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) 3 times in next ch-1 sp. Yoh and draw through all 4 loops on hook – cluster made. 1 dc in next dc. (Ch 1. Miss next ch-1 sp. 1 dc in next dc) 3 times. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.
- 3rd row: Sl st in first dc. Sl st in next ch-1 sp. Sl st in next dc. Ch 4. Miss next ch-1 sp. 1 dc in next dc – beg dec made. *Ch 1. Miss next ch-1 sp or cluster. 1 dc in next dc. Rep from * to last ch-1 sp. Turn. Leave rem sp unworked.
- 4th row: Beg dec. (Ch 1. Miss next ch-1 sp. 1 dc in next dc) twice. *Cluster in next ch-1 sp. 1 dc in next dc. (Ch 1. Miss next ch-1 sp. 1 dc in next dc) 3 times. Rep from * to last 5 ch-1 sps. Cluster in next ch-1 sp. 1 dc in next dc. (Ch 1. Miss next ch-1 sp. 1 dc in next dc) 3 times. Turn. Leave rem sp unworked.
- Rep last 2 rows until there are 5 ch-1 sps.
- Next row: Beg dec. (Ch 1. Miss next ch-1 sp. 1 dc in next dc) twice. Turn. Leave rem st unworked.
- Next row: Beg dec. Fasten off.
- FINISHING: Outer Edging: 1st rnd: With RS facing, join yarn with sl st at top left corner and work 1 rnd sc evenly down side edge, around point, up other side edge and across foundation row of Shawl. Join with sl st to first sc.
- 2nd rnd: Ch 1. Working from left to right instead of from right to left as usual, work 1 reverse sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
- The Shawl is made with prayers and blessings and given with love to those in need of comfort and solace, as well as celebration and joy.

This may be too late for you luvlyd2005 1684885 but this is the link from the website https//www.yarnspirations.com/on/demandware.static == /-/Sites-master-catalog-spinrite/default/dw20657d6 == 8/PDF/BRC0622-005287M.pdf but they are the same as written above. They read fairly easy for me and not sure what the issue is. I have a little experience and I think I would not have any trouble.

At first I thought that is article took a lot of skeins for completion. The yarn used is a relative small skein and not expensive at all. When I clicked today the link that the yarn was for sale was not longer available. However a quick google search and I was able to locate the necessary yarn. It was on sale to boot too.

I do a prayer shawl ministry at my church. We have been doing this for about a year now. We have made many people happy with the shawls that we make. This pink shawl will do nicely for one of the prayer shawls. I will make it very soon. Thank you for all of the great patterns. I love to knit and crochet and I am always knitting or crocheting something on a daily basis.

I am totally lost on this pattern. On 4. but still row 3, these directions have me so confused, I am an experienced crocheter but not getting this at all, can you help explain this better, ot may be a video?

Yoh and draw up a loop. Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) 3 times in next ch-1 sp. Yoh and draw through all 4 loops on hook cluster made. I can't figure out how to do this. I have tried and tried and it doesn't look right to me. Help, please!

You should have one loop on your hook. Yarn over and insert it into the next stitch and yarn over and pull through. Now you have 3 loops. Yarn over again and pull through 2 loops on your hook, leaving 1 still remaining on your hook. Repeat 2 more times (for a total of 3 times) all in the same ch1 space from the previous row. You should have 4 loops remaining on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all 4 loops. Hope that helps! You're making a cluster, so it will be a little bulkly.

Hi Emily, As long as you know your stitches and can follow a pattern I do not see any problem with you being able to create this shawl. Just go slow and count your stitches and watch your tension. Good luck. If you can think it you can do it!

I love this site thank you for providing free patterns. I have 2 handicap kids and I have spent a lot of time in the hospital with them. If you have ever done this you know one thing that it is very cold in a hospital. There isn't much to do but wait. I challange anybody who knows how to make something for the childrens hospitals. A doll, kids blanket or thinking for the moms and dads out there one of these shaws. I know somethings like this would have been very usefull for me. I love to make stuff to donate to the childrens hositals they can always use it.

I have read this over and over, Row 2 and can't make it work? My work is cruving? Like it has too many sts . I understand it up to the part where I should rept. Turning ch 4 is first dc. 1 dc in nxt dc. (Ch 1. miss nxt ch-1 sp. 1 dc in next dc)twice. Now the cluster is in the ch 1 space. 1dc in nxt dc. (Ch 1. Miss nxt ch-1 sp. 1dc in nxt dc 3 times(that means in the same dc?)that is a shell? right? Now Rep. so now I do cluster 1 dc. ch 1 miss nxt ch 1 sp. 3 dc in nxt dc. that is how I see I tired it and it just curves is that right? janet
