Ocean Front Shawl

This Ocean Front Shawl is great for a long walk on the beach.  It also makes a cute cover up if you're spending the day on the water front.  With its lacy design and style, this summer crochet wrap is great for day and night, and makes a wonderful accessory for every day attire as well as beach wear. 

Materials:

• 1 ball Caron International's Simply Soft Light (100% Acrylic; 3oz/85g, 334yds/306m) yarn in Key Lime (A)
• 1 ball Caron International's Simply Soft Light (100% Acrylic; 3oz/85g, 334yds/306m) yarn in White (B)
• 1 ball Caron International's Simply Soft Light (100% Acrylic; 3oz/85g, 334yds/306m) yarn in Capri (C)
• Size US F-5 (3.75mm) crochet hook or size needed for gauge
• Yarn needle

Gauge:  15 dc = 4”/10cm; 8 pattern rows = 4.5”/11.5cm

Instructions:

Side 1

1. Row 1: With A, *ch 4, tr in 4th ch from hook; repeat from * 19 times more, ch 4, turn—20 tr.
    
2. Row 2 (RS): Working through the middle of each tr in previous row, *3 dc in middle of next tr; repeat from * across, tr in same ch as last tr of previous row; ch 1, turn—20 3-dc groups.
    
3. Row 3: Sc in top of tr, *ch 5, sc in sp between next two 3-dc groups; repeat from * across with last sc in top of beg ch-4, ch 4, turn—20 ch-5 sps.
    
4. Row 4: *3 dc in 3rd ch of next ch-5 sp, repeat from * across, ending with tr in last sc, ch 1, turn—20 3-dc groups.
    
5. Row 5: Repeat 3, changing to B at end of row.
    
6. Row 6-9: Repeat Rows 4 and 5 twice, changing to C at end of Row 9.
    
7. Rows 10-13: Repeat Rows 4 and 5 twice, changing to A at end of Row 13.
    
8. Rows 14-17: Repeat Rows 4 and 5 twice, changing to B at end of Row 17.
    
9. Rows 18-52: Repeat Rows 6-17 four times, then Rows 6-9 once more, changing to C at the end of last row.

Edging

1. Row 1: With C, work 61 sc evenly spaced across row; ch 1, turn.—61 sc.

3. Row 3:  Work 3 sc in each ch-2 sp and 5 sc in each ch-3 sp across, ch 3, turn—102 sc.

7. Fasten Off.

Side 2

1. Row 1: Working on opposite side of Row 1 of Side 1 and with RS facing, join with a sl st in same ch as first tr of Row 1, ch 4, *3 dc in middle of next ch-4 sp; repeat from * across, tr in top of tr of previous Row 1; ch 1, turn—20 3-dc groups.
    
2. Rows 2-52: Repeat Rows 3-52 of Side 1.

Edging

1. Work same as Side 1 Edging.

Finishing

1. Weave in all ends.
