I love that I know the basic stitches in the pattern. I probably need to learn the V stitch but it's worth it. It looks so elegant.

I was wondering if I can use another brand of chunky yarn? Or does it have to be the Caron brand? I hope to get a response on this being that I see several questions not answered here.

Hi Mary, The coloring might be a little different if you don't use the Caron brand; however, we don't see why another brand of chunky yarn would not work. The yarn used here is Super Bulky weight yarn; you can use this link here to compare the yarn substitution you want to use with the original yarn used: http://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/caron-black-magic We hope this helps. Hi, just love this shrug, but written instructions seem to be missing some sts. Does it have increases? If you have the pattern can you share? Please help -)

I'm a beginner crocheter... and in reviewing this pattern it's not clear what stitches should be used for rows 49-51, 54-57, 60-66. Are they not included or am I overlooking something?

I would love to see getting the ring on with video!

I had to laugh at the typo above the photo of the shrug. It said you will look "goof" and feel even better!

Ha, great catch! The pattern is now updated. Thanks - Julia from FaveCrafst

How is 31 sts going to go around anyone, I've made the pattern to row 5 and there is no way it will fit even a small size did you leave out some sts or increases?

My first inclination is to say that 31 stitches is the width... not the length. You are working this as a flat rectangle, so I'm sure you could repeat the row pattern until it is long enough to go around your shoulders and chest.

How do you put this shrug on? Does the ring open or do you put it over your head?

Looks like over your head, a pull over. I might have to make my own pattern on this just give me a good idea.
