So I am guessing it would be easy for a beginner who it tired? My sister just had a baby and wants to try to crochet this. I am hoping she has the energy!

I just love these cocoons they have for babies now. I think they work much better in keeping the baby warm and snuggly. I have made several of these with the little hats for my grandchildren and as baby shower gifts. They work up so easy and so quickly, I can have a gift ready in no time.

i have been making the cocoon body, but it is very small, what does work even on 54sc mean?

Hi billieholton 10735 17! sc means single crochet. Hope that helps! - Kaylee from FaveCrafts

What is PM in the directions of this cocoon?

I want to know also Please answer

It means Place Marker

I think the patterns and instructions are great

thank you very much; love it

so many questions about this pattern...scares me alittle to try making it...

I wished this one was in Dutch because all these terms are not clear to me. Somebody please?

(PM in center sc) What is PM? I have never seen this.

PM means placement marker. Place a marker in stitch to mark your spot.

place marker

I think the line that is confusing me is: [Sc in each sc to 1 sc before marked sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in marked sc] twice Is it 2 sc in next, then 1 sc, then the same thing again (meaning twice)? Because that is not getting me the correct diameter at 54 stitches. Thanks in advance, Willo

[Sc in each sc] means to single crochet in every single crochet (I know this is self explanitory). [to 1 sc before marked sc] means to do you sc around until you have one stitch before the sc with the marker in it. [2 sc in next sc] is the sc before the marker sc. [sc in marked sc] is obvious. Twice refers to everything in the []. That is my interpretation.

Ok, I've tried this several times, but when I get to 54 stitches the diameter is about the size of a hat. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

I dont understand the 2 Split-lock stitch markers I get marker but what is 2 split-lock

2 Split-lock is just a type of marker

Good pattern for those new born babies in the fall and winter. Gifts for baby showers, etc;

what does multiple of 2 stitches mean?

I just discovered this pattern. I am a beginner. I was reading the pattern and I was fine until I read: "WORK EVEN ON 42 SC UNIL 8ll FROM BEGINNING. FASTENOFF. WEAVE IN ENDS.FOLD BOTTOM EDGE UP FOR CUFF. What does the ' 8ll' mean ??? And I don't even have the correct key on my keyboard. What am I missing? HELP! please and thank you!

I believe that was a typo. I think it means 8 inches from the beginning. Hope that helps.

what is the term PM mean???

the term PM means place marker. I hope that this helps

I thought I could read most patterns but I have not a clue what PM means in the above pattern. Help

place marker

is this made with 4-ply yarn?? I have strarted it with 3 ply,but it seems way to small!

It states chunky weight yarn on the page with the link to this pattern: http://www.allfreecrochet.com/Free-Baby-Crochet-Patterns/Baby-Cocoon-and-Hat#

I am working on the hat out of the 'Cozy Soft Baby Cocoon & Hat' and I am stuck on one phrase. I do not understand what "working on opposite side of ch" means?? Will some one just answer this for me? This is the one and only thing holding me up from makeing this. I have a friend who's daughter gave birth to a lil girl that only weighs 2lbs.. This is the first hat that I found that was newborn to three mths. Also a lot of you are asking what "pm" means; well it is to place a marker where the pattern indicates. I would appreciate the help on my question also.

@molishogg working the other side of the chain simply means continue around the chain. After making the chain, you go back and put the single crochets in, but only on one side of the chain. so make single crochets in the other side. Does that help?

I love this pattern. I am now making it for a friend of mine who is expecting in January. Thanks for the tip on what PM meant.

yes very helpfull i am very excited to get free projects on crochetting

@Kay58, Pm stands for "place marker." I hope this helps! --Editor of FaveCrafts

What does "PM" mean in the directions for the Cocoon Pattern?

Question about the directions for the hat body: what does "until 8 from beginning?" 8 inches?

PM means "place marker"

In this pattern Cozy Soft Baby Cocoon & Hat at Favecrafts it says to PM in center sc of the last 3 sc ... Can anyone tell me what PM means please ... I can't find anything anywhere. THANK YOU

Hi nellieplum 8764227 - A stitch marker is used to note the first stitch on a crochet round, to mark increase or decrease points, or to identify key locations in a complex repetitive stitch pattern. You can read more about them here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stitch_marker_%28crochet%29 Hope this helps! -The editors of FaveCrafts

I am still getting used to following a pattern. I would like to know what it means to place your marker. What is a marker?

"Move markers up each round." Doesn't this answer the" PM "question ?

As per monday i asked if anyone knows an easy way to use the buttercup yarn for the baby cocoon by red heart, so that you can insert hook without atrining your eyes. It was posted as a question monday but is no longer showing......Please help. Thanks

"PM" does mean place marker, I actually went to WWW.REDHEART.COM to look up this pattern. It's a shame that patterns are somtimes not copied exctally from one website to another! I usually check the website where the patterns originate from to double check the written instructions and to view any comments others may have. It has helped me alot! :)

Could PM mean "Place Marker"?

What does the abbreviation PM mean. The article does not explain this.

I would love to make this cocoon, but I am unfamiliar with the abbreviation "PM". Could you please explain this. Thanks

Your website surely is a gift to all of us out here and I thank you for all the information you share with us. I'm going to make this little outfit and I cannot figure out what PM means. It's referenced several times throughout the pattern. (PM in center sc of the last 3 sc) Respectfully, Jan
