Red, White and Blue Stars
These fourth of july craft projects create a set of patriotic stars with a vintage look. Use as wall decor for July celebrations or any time of year you want the Americana decor look.
Materials:
DecoArt Products Required
No-Prep Metal Paint
- DMP01 - Bright White
- DMP11 - Real Red
- DMP20 - Bright Blue
Patio Paint
- DCP01 - Pinecone Brown
Supplies
- Foam plate
- Soft cloth
- 3/8" round foam pouncer brush
- 1/4" and 1" wide flat brush
- Three 3-D metal stars: one each of 24", 12", and 7" wide
Instructions:
NOTE: Allow paint to dry after each application.
- Basecoat all stars Bright White.
- For small star, refer to photo to paint alternate sides of star points Bright White; paint remaining sides Real Red. Repeat for three points of large star.
- Paint medium star and remainder of large star Bright Blue.
- Use pouncer brush dipped in Bright White on plate to paint dots on Bright Blue areas of stars.
- When all stars are dry, antique by rubbing on Pinecone Brown with soft cloth.

This star design is very popular so you could probably upcycle by finding these at garage sales and resale shops. For an option paint the white areas with glow in the dark. You could also connect the stars together for another effect. Thanks for sharing a great project!
