Earthtones Memory Wire Set
Create a bracelet and necklace from Katie Hacker using memory wire and ceramic beads.
Materials:
- Necklace memory wire
- Bracelet memory wire
- 20mm polished agate bead
- 10 - 9mm cylindrical ceramic beads
- 41 - Gemstone chips
- 22 - 5mm sterling silver dotted spacers
- 2 - 6mm coiled silver spacers
- 4 - Silver 3mm memory wire end caps
- 1.7mm black rubber tubing
- Memory wire shears
- Nipper tool
- BeadFix™ glue
- Adhesive tape
- Ruler
Steps:
Necklace:
- Use memory wire shears to cut 1 ½ loops of necklace wire. (Do not use ordinary wire cutter, the hard wire will damage the blades.) Place a piece of adhesive tape over one end of the necklace to prevent the beads from slipping off the end as you string them.
- String the agate onto the center of the necklace. String the following beads on each side of the agate: dotted spacer, gemstone chip, coiled spacer, cylindrical bead, two dotted spacers.
- Center the beads on the necklace, then measure the uncovered wire. Cut a piece of rubber tubing for each side of the necklace that is 1/4-3/8" shorter than the uncovered wire. Slide the tubing and a gemstone chip onto the wire. Glue a memory wire end cap onto each end of the wire, then spot-glue the end cap to the gemstone chip.
Bracelet:
- Use memory wire shears to cut 2 1/2 continuous loops of bracelet wire. Place a piece of adhesive tape over one end of the bracelet to prevent the beads from slipping off the end as you string them. String beads as follows onto the bracelet: dotted spacer, cylindrical bead, dotted spacer, five gemstone chips. Repeat this pattern seven times, then string a dotted spacer, a cylindrical bead and a silver spacer.
- Center the beads on the bracelet, then measure the uncovered wire. Cut a piece of rubber tubing for each side of the bracelet that is 1/4-3/8" shorter than the uncovered wire. Slide the tubing and a gemstone chip onto the wire. Glue a memory wire end cap onto each end of the wire, then spot-glue the end cap to the gemstone chip.
