Eclectic Filigree Earrings
Create these expensive looking earrings from Katie Hacker on your own with silver-plated chain and beads.
Materials:
- 2 - Filigree rectangle 3-to-1 ring end connectors
- 6 in. (15.24cm) length - Small cable chain, silver plating
- 8 - 6mm Medium jump rings, silver plating
- 6 - 8mm Large jump rings, silver plating
- 6 - 5.3mm 1-hole flat disc spacer beads, silver plating
- 4 - 9.4mm 1-hole flat disc spacer beads, silver plating
- 2 - 9.4mm 2-hole flat disc spacer beads, silver plating
- 2 - 12mm 1-hole donut flat disc spacer beads, silver plating
- 2 - Ball & spring French ear wires, silver plating
- Designer chain nose pliers
- Nipper tool
Steps:
- Attach an ear wire to the top loop on the filigree component.
- Cut three 1 in. (2.54cm) lengths of silver small cable chain.
- Using a 6mm jump ring, attach a piece of chain and a 5.3mm 1-hole flat disc spacer bead to each outer loop on the filigree component.
- Using a 8mm jump ring, attach a 9.4mm 1-hole flat disc spacer bead to the last link on each piece of chain attached to an outer loop on the filigree component.
- Using a 6mm jump ring, attach a 9.4mm 2-hole flat disc spacer bead to the center loop on the filigree component.
- Using a 6mm jump ring, attach a piece of chain and a 5.3mm 1-hole flat disc spacer bead to the lower hole on the 9.4mm 2-hole disc.
- Use a 10mm jump ring to attach a 1-hole donut to the last link on the center chain.
- Repeat steps 1 – 7 to complete the other earring.
Tip: Open jump rings by turning one arm of the ring to the side rather than pulling the ends directly apart.
