TENSION
24 sts and 32 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in stocking st.
INSTRUCTIONS
The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes the instructions will be written thus ( ).
BACK
**Cast on 81 (89-97-105) sts.
1st row: (RS). K1. *P1. K1. Rep from * to end of row.
2nd row: P1. *K1. P1. Rep from * to end of row.
Rep these 2 rows (K1. P1) ribbing for 1¼ ins [3 cm] ending on a 2nd row and inc 8 sts evenly across last row. 89 (97-105-113) sts.**
Proceed in stocking st until work from beg measures 16 (17½-19¼- 20½) ins [40.5 (44-49-52) cm] ending with RS facing for next row. Cast off.
Place markers 25 (29-33-37) sts in from side edges along cast off edge to mark shoulders.
FRONT
Work from ** to ** as given for Back.
Proceed in stocking st until work from beg measures 13½ (14¼-16- 17) ins [34.5 (37.5-40.5-43) cm], ending with RS facing for next row.
Neck shaping: Next row: K38 (42-46-50) (neck edge). Turn.
Leave rem sts on a spare needle.
Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 13 rows. 25 (29-33-37) sts.
Cont even until work from beg measures same length as Back, ending with RS facing for next row. Cast off.
With RS of work facing, slip next 13 (13-13-14) sts onto a st holder.
Join yarn to rem sts and knit to end of row.
Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 13 rows. 25 (29-33-37) sts.

SLEEVES
Cast on 43 (45-47-51) sts.
Work 1¼ ins [3 cm] in (K1. P1) ribbing as given for Back ending with RS facing for next row and inc 6 sts evenly across last row. 49 (51-53-57) sts.
Proceed in stocking st inc 1 st each end of needle on 3rd and following 2nd (2nd-2nd-4th) rows to 67 (69-69-105) sts.
Sizes 4, 6 and 8 only: Inc 1 st each end of needle on following 4th rows to 85 (93-99) sts on needle.
All Sizes: Cont even until sleeve from beg measures 9½ (11-12½- 14) ins [23 (28-32-35.5) cm] ending with RS facing for next row. Cast off.
FINISHING
Pin garment pieces to measurements. Cover with a damp cloth leaving to dry.
Neckband: Sew right shoulder seam. With RS of work facing, pick up and knit 18 (24-24-26) sts down left front neck edge. K13 (13-13-14) from front st holder.
Pick up and knit 18 (24-24-26) sts up right front neck edge. Pick up and knit 39 sts from back neck edge between markers. 88 (100- 100-105) sts.
Beg with a purl row, work 13 rows stocking st. Cast off. Sew left shoulder and neckband seam, allowing neckband to curl.
Place markers on Front and Back side edges 7 (7¾-8¼-8¾) ins [18 (19.5-21-22) cm] down from shoulder seams. Sew in sleeves between markers. Sew side and sleeve seams.
SCARF
With MC, cast on 41 sts.
1st row: (RS). K1. *P1. K1. Rep from * to end of row.
This row forms seed st pat.
2nd to 6th rows: As 1st row.
7th row: With A, K1. P1. Knit to last 2 sts. P1. K1.
8th row: K1. P1. K1. Purl to last 3 sts. K1. P1. K1.
9th to 12th rows: As 7th and 8th rows twice.
13th row: With MC, K1. P1. Knit to last 2 sts. P1. K1.
14th to 18th rows: As 1st row.
19th to 24th rows: With B, as 7th and 8th rows 3 times.
25th row: With MC, K1. P1. Knit to last 2 sts. P1. K1.
Rep 2nd to 25th rows until work from beg measures approx 35 ins [91.5 cm], ending with 6th row of pat. Cast off in pat.
Fringe: Cut 8 ins [20.5 cm] lengths of yarn. Taking 6 strands of yarn tog (2 of each color) knot into fringe approx 1 inch [2.5 cm] apart along top and lower edges as illustrated. Trim fringe evenly.
