Materials List

  • Fabric
  • Marking Pen
  • Scissors
  • Needle and Thread or Sewing Machine
  • Stuffing of your choice (I use wool or polyester)

Instructions

  1. The first thing that you will need to do is select the type of fabric that you will be using. For this project, it might be best to use red material, to create the appearance of a heart. However, it will work with almost every type of fabric. You just need to make sure that it is strong enough to be stuffed without splitting.

  2. The next step is to draw an outline onto the heart using a marking pen. You might want to use an outline to make sure that it has the right appearance. The heart can be as small, or large, as you want.

  3. Next, you will need to cut the fabric heart out, following your outline. You might want to cut slowly, making sure that you obtain a heart shape.

  4. By now, you should have one fabric heart. Now, you will need to repeat the process to get a second heart, to allow you to make the pillow. When doing this, you might want to use the original heart as a template. This will ensure that both sides are the same size and shape.

  5. Next, you want to start sewing the heart together. Depending on the size of the heart, it might be faster to use a sewing machine. However, it’s important that you leave a section of the heart open. This will allow you to add the stuffing.

  6. Next, you need to add stuffing to the heart. The amount of stuffing that you add will determine how firm the heart will be. The more you add, the firmer it will become.

  7. Finally, you will be able to finish sewing the heart. Then you will have created a gorgeous love-heart pillow, as the perfect Valentine’s present. Depending on your needs, you might want to customize this further. For example, you will be able to add feathers, sequins, and other decorations.
