Materials List

  • Square shaped clear glass jar
  • Strip of natural rustic burlap (hessian) that would fit around the jar
  • Four flowers cut from leftover white embroidered net lace fabric
  • A few strings of raffia
  • Three 5mm yellow multifaceted rhinestones
  • Eleven 2mm yellow multifaceted rhinestones
  • Battery operated tea light candle
  • Mod podge
  • Giotto décor textile pens: brown; red and yellow
  • Quick-drying craft glue (such as bostik clear)
  • Standard scissors
  • Flat paintbrush
  • Hairdryer

Instructions

  1. Remove the label, wash the jar and allow to dry upside down overnight.

Tip: If necessary, use mineral turpentine to remove any glue residue from where the label was stuck.

  2. Paint a substantial amount of Mod Podge around the jar. Tightly wrap the strip of burlap around the jar. Brush a thick layer of Mod Podge over the burlap so that the burlap will be between two layers of Mod Podge.

  3. Dry the jar with the hairdryer.

Note: Use the COOL AIR option of your hair dryer.

  4. Use the brown textile pen to highlight the flower petals of each flower, and the red and yellow pens to highlight the insides of the flowers. Allow to dry and cut the flowers out.

  5. Glue a flower on each side of the jar.

  6. Glue rhinestones in random places on all four sides of the jar.

  7. Tie a few strands of raffia around the neck of the jar and make a bow.

  8. Add the candle and voila!
