Opulent Wedding Bells
Let the wedding bells ring with this lovely DIY wedding project. These bells combine a foam base with some metallic mulberry papers to create an elegant homemade wedding reception decoration or centerpiece.
Materials:
- STYROFOAM™ Brand Foam:
- Full Round Bell, 4"
- Extra-large sheets of assorted metallic mulberry papers, purple; blue; multi
- Metallic pink/multi braid trim, 1 yard
- Corsage pins with multicolored heads
- Straight pins with small white heads
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Pencil
- White, thick craft glue
Note: Materials and instructions are for 4" bell. For favors, use 2-1/2" bell; omit Step 4.
Steps:
- Cut 3" x 15" strip from desired mulberry paper. Drape paper over center top of foam bell and bring ends around to bottom; pin paper in place temporarily using white pins.
- Cut a second strip from different paper and drape over bell, forming "X" over first paper strip. Pin at bottom to secure. Repeat twice more with paper strips to completely cover foam surface.
- Working with one paper strip at a time, pin paper securely to bell. Arrange corsage pins in vertical rows, smoothing and forming paper onto bell shape.
- Cut 3" x 12" strip from contrasting mulberry paper and wrap horizontally around bottom of bell. Smooth paper against surface and pin at top with corsage pins; pin at bottom with white pins.
- Choose two vertical corsage pin rows and slightly pull heads away from bell surface. Beginning at bottom pair of pins, wrap metallic braid in criss-cross corset fashion, moving up toward top of bell. Tie braid into bow. Push all pins securely back into bell.
