Sewn Christmas Tags
Bust out your sewing machine for this papercraft! Sewn Christmas Tags from Fawnda Norman make a huge impression and add a fun element to any gift.
Materials:
- 2 Coordinating Card stocks (Larger Rectangle - 3X4 Smaller rectangle- 2.5 X 3.5)
- Double sided tape
- Marker
- Sewing machine (with thread)
Instructions:
- Attach your smaller rectangle on top of the larger rectangle with just a little strip of adhesive in the middle. (you only need enough to hold in place for a little bit... we will be attaching it another way)
- Now walk to your sewing machine and set your stitch to zig zag and line up your tag so that the zig-zag stitch will sew on the paper. It is just like sewing on fabric... only the paper is a bit more stiff. You will want to use an older needle... sewing on paper is harder on your needles.
- Try to sew right on the edge of the smaller rectangle.
- Sew on all four sides. This is how the paper is really attached.
- Add some more decorative zig zag stitches to the tag.
- Write "To" and "From".

This is pretty creative! The only time I have sewn on paper was to create a tear off tag, because the needed indentations would create the perfect perforations needed, while still remaining on the main page until torn off. With using the zig zag stitch this worry would be eliminated. This tag could later be used as a bookmark since it is so fancy you would not want to throw it out! Very creative!
