How to Create the Look of Metal with Kitchen Foil
Go green and use household items for all of your favorite projects. Crafty wall decor like this one from Heidi Borchers can add a touch of whimsy to the look of your space. Learn how to create the look of metal with kitchen foil - it's an easy way to save big on supplies!
Start with two cardboard butterflies (they can come from a template or you can sketch some out and cut them with a scissors). Apply Aleene's Tacky Glue along the outer edge of the wings and lay a candle wick in the wet glue to create a pattern. You can also add in rhinestones of all shapes, sizes and colors. Cut a six-inch piece of aluminum foil and and begin to crinkle it (don't roll it into a ball). Lay the foil flat on a table and place the butterfly on top. Cover the butterfly in glue and place it face-down on the foil. Cut away the excess and paint over the foil. You can create an antique look by brushing the paint off with a paper towel. Don't forget to add wire for the antennae!
