- A pair of scissors
- A needle
- Thread that matches the felt
- Cotton
Instructions
-
Select 2-3 felt fabrics for the mushroom. You may want to choose different colors for the base, spots, cap, and stalk. You can use any colored felt fabrics you choose. In this tutorial, we will be making a red mushroom with white spots.
-
Trace the provided patterns on the selected felt fabrics and cut them out nicely using scissors.
-
Place the spot cutouts on the cap cutout and prepare a needle with the thread that matches the color of the spots.
-
Work appliqué stitches around the spots to attach them to the cap cutout.
-
Place the stalk cutout on the bottom side of the cap, keeping the top end of the stalk at the backside of the cap’s bottom side. Prepare a needle with the thread that matches the cap’s felt.
-
Stitch along the overlapped sides of the stalk and cap to join them. Use a running stitch.
-
Place the front stitched mushroom pattern on the top of the mushroom base cutout.
-
Work running stitches around the sides to join the base and the front part of the felt mushroom together.
-
After stitching around the sides of the cap, use cotton to stuff the felt mushroom cap.
-
Stuff the stalk with cotton through a small opening.
-
Once the stuffing is complete, stitch the opening to secure the stuffing of the mushroom. Tie a knot or 2 and then cut off the extra thread.
