Materials:

  • 2 skeins Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Honeydew
  • 2 skeins Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Petal Pink
  • 3 skeins Red Heart Classic yarn in Yellow
  • 5.0 mm (US H-8) crochet hook or size needed for gauge

 

Gauge:  4 rows – 3”; 5 dc, V St – 2 ¾”

 

Special Stitches:

  • Shell – 5 dc in stitch or space as indicated.
  • V Stitch (V St) – (dc, ch 3, dc) in stitch or space as indicated.
  • Large Shell (LgSh) – (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in stitch or space as indicated.
  • Picot – (sc, ch 2, sc) – in stitch or space as indicated.

Tulip Crocheted Afghan

Instructions:
Afghan Measures:  43” x 49”
Afghan is crocheted in multiples of 10 plus 2.

  1. Row 1 (RS): With honeydew ch 152, 2 dc in 4th ch from hook,  skip 2 chs, V St in next ch, * skip 2 chs, dc in next 5 chs, skip next 2 chs, V St in next ch, repeat from * across to last 5 chs, skip 2 chs, dc in last 3 chs, turn.
     
  2. Row 2: Ch 3, skip first 2 dc, dc in next dc, ch 2, 5 dc in ch 3 space of V St, * ch 2, skip next dc, dc in next dc, skip next 3 dc, dc in next dc, ch 2, 5 dc in ch 3 space of V St, repeat from * across to last 4 dc, skip next 3 dc, (dc, ch 1, dc) in last dc, turn.
     
  3. Row 3: Ch 4, dc in first dc, skip next ch 1 space and next dc, dc in next 5 dc, *skip next ch 2 space and next dc, V St in space before next dc, skip next 2 dc, dc in next 5 dc, repeat from * across to last 2 dc, skip next dc, (dc, ch 1, dc) in last dc, turn.
     
  4. Row 4: Ch 3, 2 dc in next ch 1 space, ch 2, skip next dc, dc in next dc, skip next 3 dc, dc in next dc, *ch 2, 5 dc in ch 3 space of V St, ch 2, skip next dc, dc in next dc, skip 3 dc, dc in next dc, repeat from * across to last ch 1 space, ch 2, 2 dc in ch 1 space, dc in last dc, fasten off and turn.
     
  5. Row 5: Join pink in first stitch, ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, skip next ch 2 space and next dc, V St in space before next dc, *skip next dc and next ch 2 space, dc in next 5 dc, skip next ch 2 space and next dc, V St in space before next dc, repeat from * across to last 4 dc, skip next dc and next ch 2 space, dc in last 3 dc, turn.
     
  6. Row 6: Repeat Row 2.
     
  7. Row 7: Repeat Row 3.
     
  8. Row 8: Repeat Row 4, fasten off and turn.
     
  9. Row 9: Join yellow in first stitch and continue with Row 5.
     
  10. Row 10: Repeat Row 2.
     
  11. Row 11: Repeat Row 3.
     
  12. Row 12: Repeat Row 4, fasten off and turn.
     
  13. Continue pattern for a total of 48 rows as follows:  (4 rows honeydew, 4 rows pink, 4 rows yellow) 4 more times, 4 rows honeydew

Edging

  1. With pink work along top edge LgSh in first right corner dc, Picot in ch 2 space, skip 1 dc of V St, *LgSh in next dc, Picot in center dc of Shell, skip 3 dc, LgSh in next dc, repeat from * across, LgSh in last dc.
     
  2. Work along side edge*skip 1 dc space, Picot in next dc space, skip 1 dc space, LgSh in next dc space, repeat from * across.
     
  3. Work along bottom edge LgSh in  first ch, Picot in ch 2 space, skip V St, LgSh in next ch, *Picot in ch below middle dc of 5 dc, LgSh in ch below V St, repeat from * across, LgSh in last ch.
     
  4. Work along side edge as for opposite side edge matching stitches, join to beginning dc and fasten off.
