Recycling project ideas don't get much better than this, so be sure to make a few and display them all over. You'll love the whimsical look of this eco-friendly project. My Husband was cleaning up the house when I was at work, and he discovered my old fashion magazines that I had around the house. He had mentioned it when I had gotten home, so I began to got through the pile of magazines I had... I was tearing out fashion pictures I wanted to keep from the issue, and I took one out of the pile I didn't want, and tore it in half and crumpled it up, to my amazement it resembled a flower!!! I was so intrigued by the flower that I began brain storming for a project in mind. In conclusion of my surprisingly, recycled magazine paper's flower I created by chance, I named my project "Mag Flower Wreath".

Primary TechniquePainting

Materials:

  • 2 face masks
  • Styrofoam wreath
  • 2 double sheets (any color) of tissue paper
  • 60 magazines pages
  • 4 oz. bottle of Clear Gel Tacky Glue
  • Krylon spray paint can
  • Command Adhesi Strips

Instructions:

  1. First you put on a face mask for safety, the spray paint fumes are strong. Take Styrofoam wreath, start to spray paint it (use any color). Spray paint the whole wreath. OPTIONAL-- If you don't want to spray paint the wreath take tissue paper 2 double sheets and wrap around Styrofoam and use glue to secure. Let it dry completely. Take the face mask off.

  2. Take a magazine and begin to tear out pages (a total of 60), then each page of the magazine and tear in half (don't worry if pages are not even.) Take each half page and crumble it in your hand, one by one. It will look like a flower.

  3. Take your glue and start to glue on the flowers to the wreath. Glue on each flower on front side of the wreath, two rows all around. Turn over the wreath and continue to glue the flowers two rows in the inner circle of the wreath. Let it dry completely.

  4. Place a face mask on and take the spray paint can and begin to spray paint the back of the wreath and continue painting the front, middle, and the sides of the wreath. Let it dry completely, and take off face masks and dispose of the face mask.

  5. When completely dry you can use the Command Adhesive strips to your wall to hang up your finished wreath.

More Crafty Ideas For You

One project we recommend for readers who enjoy creating a Recycled Magazine Flower Wreath is making a set of paper quilled flowers. This craft involves rolling thin strips of paper into coils and shaping them into various flower shapes. The intricate details and vibrant colors can mimic the look of real flowers, adding a fun twist to the recycled magazine aesthetic.

Another project idea for fans of the Recycled Magazine Flower Wreath is to try their hand at making a magazine coil bowl. By coiling magazine pages into tight spirals and gluing them together, crafters can create a unique and colorful bowl perfect for holding small trinkets or serving as a decorative piece on a coffee table or shelf. This project is a great way to showcase the versatility of recycling old magazines into functional art.

For those looking to take their crafting skills up a notch, we suggest trying a magazine mosaic art piece. By cutting magazine pages into small, uniform pieces and arranging them into a design on a canvas or wooden surface, crafters can create a stunning mosaic masterpiece. This project allows for endless creativity and personalization, making it a great choice for crafters looking to challenge themselves and create a show-stopping piece of art.
