Materials List
- Orange pillowcase
- Green ribbon
- Black felt
- An old folder
- Chalk
- Fabric glue
Instructions
-
At the opening end of the pillowcase, cut two 2 inch slits on the side seam. This is where you'll thread the ribbon through the hole and out the other side to create the neck of the costume. The green ribbon is the stem of the pumpkin.
-
To make the arm holes, measure five inches from the neckline and cut an opening four inches long.
-
Cinch the top and tie a bow with the green ribbon.
-
Cut out a stencil drawing of eyes, nose, and a mouth for the pumpkin face from the folder. It can be as traditional or funny as you'd like the face to be.
-
Trace your stencils with chalk onto the felt and cut out the face. Position it in the center of the pillowcase and use fabric glue to attach it.
-
Cut off the bottom of the pillowcase and hem it using a liquid stitch or by sewing it.
-
Add a few stitches to gather the lower left and right sides of the pillowcase to create a ruche gathering to make the curve of the pumpkin.
