Materials List

  • Marvy Uchida Le Plume II – No. 2 Red
  • Marvy Uchida Bistro Chalk Marker – White
  • Marvy Uchida DecoColor Liquid Gold Opaque Paint Marker – Broad Line
  • Marvy Uchida Le Pen Drawing -Technical Drawing Pen 0.5
  • White cardstock
  • Red cardstock

Instructions

  1. Letter “birthday” with brush pen (I used a Marvy 1122 Le Plume II) on white cardstock. Make sure your down strokes are nice and thick, as that is where the decoration will go. Use the fine-tipped end of the marker to repeat the flourish on the "y", slightly offset.

  2. Run the white chalk marker down the center of the thick stroke in each letter to make a stripe. It leaves a wonderful subtle embellishment.

  3. Apply a single polka dot of gold randomly along each down stroke. Use a coloured fine-tipped pen to add polka dots to each side of the gold dot.

  4. Use a fine tipped pen to letter “happy” as shown. Add polka dots to the ends of the flourishes.

  5. Trim the paper with your lettering, cut a mat slightly larger from red cardstock and another of white cardstock. Form a tent-fold card base about ¼” larger than the largest mat.
