Embroidery on a Hand Knit Garment
"I’m new to embroidery and the stick on patterns from MCreativeJ made it easy for me to practice my skills.
You can jazz up any hand knit with a little embroidery, and the patterns come in really cute collections!
Materials:
-Fabric to embroider on
-Needle
-Embroidery thread
-Embroidery hoop to stabilize fabric
-pair of scissors
- embroidery stick on pattern by M Creative J
You can do this on any type of fabric, and embroidering on hand knits is somewhat difficult, because of the nature of the loose fabric and the fibers of the yarn.
If you don’t have experience with embroidery I would suggest practicing on a tighter fabric to start. Then when you’re feeling adventurous add it to your knitwear! Maybe a Felted knit, or a tightly stitched one!"

Instructions
-
Peel your embroidery pattern off like a sticker and place it on the fabric you want to embroider on.
-
Secure your embroidery hoop around the pattern to keep the fabric taught.
-
Split your embroidery thread so there are three strands, thread your needle.
-
Begin stitching on the lines of the embroidery pattern.
-
Coming up through the back use your outlining color chain stitch and outline your design.
-
Protip- if you are finding that your needle is sticking- keep a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol nearby to dip and clean your needle of the sticky feeling that may occur from fibers of the yarn in combo with the sticky backing.
-
Coming up from the back of the work, use satin stitch to fill in the larger areas of the designs.
-
I used French knots for the seeds of the lemon. For a little added texture.
-
Remove the embroidery hoop.
-
And wash your garment gently. The backing is water soluable so it will wash away- leaving your stitches !
-
Wear with the pride of just embellishing your knitwear!
