Instructions
-
Wash glasses in hot soapy water. Just before painting, wipe glasses with rubbing alcohol and let dry. Avoid touching area to be painted. Run a piece of painters tape evenly along the rim of the glasses. Burnish the lower edge of the tape with finger pressure.
-
Load the short flat end of the cosmetic sponge with a small amount of White Frost Enamel paint and stipple onto the bowl of the wine glass (or recycled jar piece if you choose to practice). Keep a wet edge and work systematically to cover the entire bowl as evenly as possible. Use can use a clean side of the sponge to gently tap over wet areas to soften the look. For best results do not apply additional coats. The finished effect will be a semi transparent frosted look. When dry carefully remove tape. Use rubbing alcohol to remove fingerprints. Bake the glasses according to the instructions on the label.
-
Use dry or barely damp brushes to apply paint to glass. Do not thin paint with water. Use #2 round and a generous amount of Black to freehand Y shapes diagonally on the bowl (Fig. 1). Use the liner brush to make smaller irregular stripes to fill in-between the Y’s. Use the liner brush to finish the stripes to a fine point and to make some thin lines here and there (Fig. 2). Continue the pattern until the bowl is filled with design. Let dry several hours of overnight. Touch up any areas not fully covered with a light 2nd coat of paint.
-
Wipe stem and foot of glass with rubbing alcohol. Use a new cosmetic sponge to stipple Chalkboard paint onto the stem and foot of the glass. Repeat 1-2 more times or until fairly opaque. Use the flat wash brush to apply a final smooth coat of paint. Follow manufacturer’s direction for air curing the glass paint.
-
Use a pencil to mark a circle where the stem meets the foot. Use the tweezers to pick up one rhinestone at a time and place along the pencil line. Use the toothpick to apply a tiny amount of glue to the back. Set in place on the foot of the glass. Avoid getting excess glue on the foot. Repeat until a circle of rhinestone is complete. Let dry. Use the liner and the Chalkboard paint to carefully paint over any glue showing around rhinestones.
-
Use the chalk to write names or messages on the foot of the glasses.
-
Hand wash glasses in warm water and mild soap. Do not soak or scrub glasses. Pat dry gently.
