Embellished Butterfly Card
Designer Barbara Swanson shares this beautiful spring-themed card. Use the idea to make something similar and spread a bit of sunshine through the mail.
Materials:
- Yellow cardstock base
- Teal cardstock
- Light teal printed paper
- "Thinking of You" stamped on ecru cardstock and mounted on dark teal square
- Rows of 1/8" Iron-on ribbon in 6400 Blue Bell and 6200 Daffodil in a 'woven ribbon' pattern
- Stamped butterflies, colored with pastels, featuring #8 Braid Iron-on 6400 Blue Bell for the antennae, and then mounted with foam squares
Steps:
- Turn your iron onto the highest heat setting and let it heat thoroughly. The adhesive in the thread needs high heat.
- Put your thread at a starting point on your design, cover with a piece of Teflon Press Cloth, and press for several seconds until the thread adheres. The Teflon Press Cloth will keep the adhesive in the thread from sticking to your iron. Kreinik offers Teflon sheets, or packages of adhesive Teflon that fit perfectly onto mini craft irons.
- Continue working your design this way, in sections, until complete.
Kreinik threads available through needlework stores or www.kreinik.com.
