Instructions:
Pin Cushion
- Cut out pattern pieces. Be sure to cut out the body pieces before cutting enclosed patterns.
- Arrange the pieces altogether and start by attaching them onto the body piece using tacky glue. Pinning them is also an option.
- Secure the eyebrows with a long basic stitch making sure that the threads aren’t noticeable enough to create thick and uneven eyebrows. With the whipstitch technique, sew on the eyes creating a boarder along the semi-circles.
- Sew on a running stitch/basic stitch right along the upper part of the belly.
- Sew body together and finish stuffing. Stuff the body as much as you can. The more you stuff it the less lumpy it will be. Just be careful to not stuff it so much that you burst the seams.
- Stuff the tail and the crown as you sew them.
- Stuff the beak as you sew them together. Then sew the bottom circle on.
- Sew the crown, beak and tail onto the body. Glue the wiggly eyes on the white semi-circle area with a glue gun. You may also use the smallest button you have or you can cut out a tiny little black felt circle as iris.
Writsband:
- Cut a circle of fabric/felt that has about 1 or 2 centimeters margin around your plastic lid. You may opt to create a pattern on a piece of paper first.
- Hand sew a running stitch around the outer edge of the fabric. Keep the stitch length long.
- Gather the fabric together as tight as you can.
- Sew from the side of the circle a few times as such that the thread is crossing the middle of the circle, then tie it off.
- Cut a length of your elastic long enough to go around your wrist.
- Then cut a fabric that’s twice the width of your elastic plus an extra inch for the seam allowance. The length should be how far your elastic can stretch.
- Fold the piece of fabric width-wise right sides together. Sew along the edge forming a tube, then turn it inside out.
- Using safety pins have the elastic flush against one end of the fabric tube and sew it in place. Do the same for the other side.
- Overlap the two ends of the elastic. Slip your hand through the loop and see if it snugly fits you. In this picture the tube isn’t long enough to be attached to itself since I only have a very minimal red felt left. I had to take another small piece of felt to give it a finish look.
- Neatly ladder stitches along the edge of the plush angry bird against the edge of the plastic lid, sewing the two into one unit with as invisible seam as you can manage.
