Dollhouse Sofa For Barbie
"There are a lot more sophisticated tutorials for constructing a Barbie sofa, but sometimes a project doesn’t have to be complicated to be lovely. In fact, this upholstered loveseat made with only cardboard, fabric and a hot glue gun is just about the cutest one I’ve ever seen. And it will be finding a home in Barbie’s Mediterranean villa I plan to build this spring. This is also a fun project to make with your child!"

Materials List
- cardboard
- fabric remnant
- fabric batting
- hot glue gun
Instructions
-
Using an X-Acto knife, cut 4 pieces of cardboard in the sizes shown below.
-
With a hot glue gun, first attach the two side pieces to the back, then attach the bottom seat, as shown in the following photos.
-
After assembling the cardboard structure, cover with a layer of thin fabric batting. Use a hot glue gun to keep in place. Start by covering the center, then cover the sides.
-
Next cover the structure with remnants of fabric, careful to prevent any raw edges from showing. Cover the center section first, then the sides. Lastly, glue a hemmed “skirt” to the seat. Cushions will cover the raw edges where the skirt is glued to the seat.
-
Finally, add 3 pillows (sewn and tuffed with cotton balls). I especially love the little arm covers I added! The detailing helps bring this Barbie sofa to life.
