Little Red's Christmas Wicker Basket
Turn a plain brown wicker basket into something festive and fun with this Little Red's Christmas Wicker Basket tutorial. All you need to give your basket new life is a bottle of Rit Dye and a few Christmas embellishments! This is a fun and clever way to turn a favorite dollar store find into something colorful and classy...and you won't believe how easy it is to do. Fill this colorful basket with scented pine cones, holiday cards, treats and goodies, or small gifts for a friend or neighbor.
Materials:
- Light brown wicker basket
- Canvas fringe
- Pine cone potpourri
- Rit Dye in Cherry Red
- Wooden bead
Instructions:
-
I made a dye bath in the kitchen sink with HOT water and the red and dip dyed the basket. I threw in a wooden bead to dye at the same time to add to the bow. While it was soaking up the color, I created a dye bath in a jar to dye the “fringe” green. Then I rinsed everything, ironed the fringe dry and tied a bow to the basket. I filled it with the potpourri and done I was.
- I think it turned out quite lovely. I plan to make some more of these baskets to fill with baked goodies for neighbors and friends. I might give them a pink bow as an “extra” so they can use the basket right in to Valentines Day.
