Wool Felt Holiday Door Decoration
If you're looking for traditional Christmas decorating ideas that don't require a ton of time, consider making this Wool Felt Holiday Door Decoration from Tiffany Windsor. Wool felting is a fun alternative to needlefelting. Step outside the box and see what you can make.
Materials:
- Aleene’s Turbo Tacky Glue
- Tree patterns of your choice
- Wool felt – one roll green, one roll ivory
- Wool felt – circle embellishments
- Cork – one roll (or size to match wool felt)
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Cardboard scrap (or expired gift card) to use as glue squeegee
- Green twine
- Small tree branch
Instructions:
-
Open package of green wool felt and press with fingers to help it to lay flat.
-
Open package of cork and lay on table. Lay wool felt on top of cork to determine placement prior to gluing. Mark light pattern lines to determine where to place glue.
-
Squeeze glue directly from bottle onto cork. Use squeegee to smooth out glue to all edges. Place felt into glued area. Press down with fingertips.
-
Cut trees and tree trunks from ivory felt. Determine placement and glue in place on green felt.
-
Glue wool felt circles onto trees. (Note: if smaller circles are desired, cut, unroll and re-glue to create smaller circles.)
-
Cut two pieces of twine approximately 18″ each. Fold in half. Glue folded end on back of cork. Cut squares of ivory felt large enough to cover loop area. Glue felt over loops. This will help to hold twine securely to back of artwork.
- Tie artwork onto branch.
