I love this afghan pattern! With Memorial Day and the 4th of July fast approaching, this seems like the perfect pattern to make! I am loving the idea of making this! This would be a great pattern to give a veteran or someone who is very patriotic. Thank you for the great idea and pattern!

I love this American Flag Afghan! The pattern is well written and sounds easy enough to make. I do wonder why there are only 32 stars? I take it there isn't enough room for all 50. ? Oh well, it will still look great and be a nice warm afghan to snuggle up with. I'm looking forward to making this one. Thank you so much for sharing this free crochet pattern.

Why did you only do 2 stars? Will the full 50 fit?

Violates United States Flag Code!

This is not a flag, this is an afghan, it's intended purpose is an afghan, not to be put on a pole for display, much like flag pics on clothing, flag tablecloths, and yes I have seen flag bedding and pillows.

This project Violates United States Flag Code!

You are badly mistaken. First of all its not a flag. It doesn't have the correct number of Stars and Stripes. Secondly the Supreme Court removed all restrictions as to the use of the flag. You can wear it, sit on it, burn it and use it as car seat covers. Thank the liberals for that.

The American Flag Code says that the flag shall not be used as bedding or wearing apparel so what can you do with this other than hang it on the wall?

That law was over turned by the United States Supreme Court many years ago. You can wear it, stomp on it and burn it. It was brought before them when hippies started wearing the flag as pants. You can thank the liberals for that. There is nothing stopping anyone from disgracing the flag any more.

I and my sister-in-law made this same afghan over 40 years ago for my sister! It is exactly the same pattern. I have lost the pattern over the years-but so thankful you have it! THANKYOU! THANKYOU!

favecrafts (Crafts Collection) Thankyou!

You can get the patterns at lionsbrandyarn.com by searching the Free Patterns for patriotic. The scarf, hat & aphgan are in crochet & knit patterns.

I would like the pattern for the scarf also.

I would like to make the scarf in the picture, does anyone know where the pattern for the scarf is??

Everyone keeps asking for the size it is approximately 60"x33" depending on your stitch.

I need to know the size of this afghan, i know it was mentioned before , but why only 32 stars and not 50?

Need to know the size of this flag when finished. Also, why are there only 32 stars??

@laineysews, We suggest you contact the pattern designer directly for help with the sizing; the designer is specified in the byline. I hope this helps! --Editors of FaveCrafts

The patterne looks easy enough to follow.....even the little stars. However, the finished size is not listed and I'm too lazy to do the math using the stitch guage and total stiches. Thank you.

It is very beautiful cant wait to get started ,on this project

@lotdan 5406202 - Try copying and pasting the instructions into a Word document if you are having trouble printing. That has seemed to work in the past. Hope this helps! -The editors of FaveCrafts
