Colorful Twists and Turns Crochet Throw
A creative and fun pattern to crochet, there are plenty of twists and turns in this colorful throw from Red Heart Yarn. The center is worked as a circle. As you progress out, you transform that into a hexagon. But you don’t stop there; you finish by adding borders to make it a very functional rectangular afghan.
Materials:
- Red Heart® “Classic™” (Art. E267) solid color 3.5 oz (99 g), 190 yd (174 m) and multi color 3 oz (85 g), 146 yd (134 m) skeins: 3 skeins each 681 Mist Green A and 339 Mid Brown B; 2 skeins each 622 Pale Sage C and 336 Warm Brown D; 1 skein 513 Parakeet E
- Crochet Hook: 6.5mm [US K-10.5]
- Yarn needle
- Stitch markers
GAUGE: 12 dc = 4”; 6 rows = 4”. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.
Note: Throw begins in a circle, then is worked into a hexagon and finally ends up as a rectangle. Circle and Hexagon sections are worked in rounds. Rectangle sides are worked back and forth in rows. Colors can be carried along wrong side of work on narrower stripes.
Special Abbreviation
dc2tog = [Yarn over, insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and pull up loop, yarn over, draw through 2 loops] 2 times, yarn over, draw through all loops on hook.

I can't wait to get started on this afghan for my daughter. She's picked out and purchased all the yarn for this project. I just wish that you could give the exact dimensions for the finished product.

I definately like this one better! I like the swirls and the pattern of how the colors go together. Haven't made one though.

I really like this and it is an easier pattern for some than the posies, but kinda unfair comparison, this is more adultish? and subdued while the other is great for a kid's room or a much younger person. Have made them both, prefer this one for myself.

Very nice transition from shape to shape. The posies are pretty but I don't like having to sew pieces together.

This is the best. Much prettier than the Bright Posies Throw.

I don't crochet but, I think that this one is prettier and more modern looking.

I like this one better because you don't have to sew or crochet all the blocks together.

No question here. This is beautiful! No sewing squares together is a bonus.

I've done the circular one, I like that pattern, this one would be more of challenge. I will have to try it, just to see how much trouble I run into.

I'll always choose the one with little (preferably NO) putting together at the end! Posies are pretty but I'm one who's always going in circles!

This one looks very sophisticated yet fun. I love the fact that it is one piece and not motifs which need to be sewn together

Both afghans are beautiful, but the Colorful Twists and Turns is my favorite. It is a rather unique pattern, with warm, soothing colors making it a winning pattern sure to get complements from family and friends. This will definitely be a future project.

I prefer this one because of the colors and the fact that once you've completed crocheting it, you don't have to sew anything else together. I tend to stay away from the lovely granny squares and/or motifs seems like I can never complete the item.

I like this one best because I'm tired of sewing motifs together! I made a granny square afghan and sweater within the last few months. I've never seen a pattern like this where it goes from one shape to another. This will definitely be on my project list.

Prefer this one -- although both patters would be great uses for scrap yarn!

Colorful Twists and Turns -- I love this afghan. I love the colors, the design and how it looks so complex. It starts as a circle, changes to a hexagon and ends as a rectangle. Very creative! I will be adding this to my soon-to-do list.

I like this one - It has a simple complexity and has a feminine and masculine quality that makes it appealing for home decor or bedroom without alienating the husband with too much floral. I'm not into too much floral either... I like how the geometrics morph through the project.
