Instructions:

SQUARES (make 72 – see Color Placement Diagram)

Rnd 1 – With flower color and G hook ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join to beg sc.
Rnd 2 – Ch 3, dc in same sp, *ch 2, 2 dc in next sc, rep from * around, join to top of beg ch 3 and fasten off.
Rnd 3 – With H hook join spring green with a sl st in any ch 2 sp, ch 2, (dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in same sp, *ch 3, sc in next ch 2 sp, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in next ch 2 sp, rep fom * around, join to top of beg ch 2.
Rnd 4 – Sl st into corner ch 3 sp, (sc, ch 3, sc) in same sp, *ch 3, sc in next ch 3 sp (2 times), ch 3, (sc, ch 3, sc) in corner ch 3 sp, rep from * around, join to beg sc and fasten off.
Rnd 5 – Join eggshell with a sl st in any corner ch 3 sp, ch 2, (2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same sp, *3 dc in each ch 3 sp across, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in corner ch 3 sp, rep from * around, join to top of beg ch 2 and fasten off.

JOINING

With eggshell whipstitch squares together having 9 rows of 8 squares each sewing every 2nd st and making an X in square joinings. See Color Placement Diagram.
Weave a 3-ply strand of spring green under each stitch of rows across and down and through the X’s.

EDGING

Rnd 1 – With H hook and spring green (sc, ch 3, sc) in dc before ch 3 corner sp, (sc, ch 3, sc) in corner sp, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next dc, skip 2 dc, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next dc, rep until joining, (sc, ch 3, sc) in ch before joining, (sc, ch 3, sc) in dc after joining, continue across entire side, rep pattern around entire afghan, join to beg sc.
