Colorful Crochet Scarf
This multi-colored crochet scarf from Patons is bold and beautiful. It uses classic wool yarn, so it will keep you nice and warm in the cold winter months. Materials:
- 2 balls Patons® Classic Wool yarn in Mercury (MC)
- 1 ball Patons® Classic Wool yarn in Wisteria (A)
- 1 ball Patons® Classic Wool yarn in Currant (B)
- 1 ball Patons® Classic Wool yarn in Lemongrass (C)
- 1 ball Patons® Classic Wool yarn in Aquarium (D)
- 1 ball Patons® Classic Wool yarn in Water Chestnut (E)
- Size 5 mm (U.S. H or 8) crochet hook, or size needed to obtain tension
Gauge: 14 sc and 16 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].
Instructions:
Approx 10 x 76 ins [25.5 x 193 cm].
Note: Scarf is worked lengthwise.

With MC, ch 260.

1st row: (WS).1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of ch. Turn. 259 sc.

2nd to 5th rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.

6th row: Ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. *Ch 3. Miss next 2 sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * to end of row. Join A. Turn. 86 ch-3 sps.

7th row: With A, ch 3 (counts as dc). *Miss next sc. 3 dc in next ch-3 sp. Rep from * to last sc. 1 dc in last sc. Join MC. Turn.

8th row: With MC, ch 1. 1 sc in first dc. *Ch 3. Miss next 3 dc. 1 sc between 3rd and 4th dc. Rep from * to last 4 dc. Ch 3. 1 sc in last dc. Turn.

Rep last 2 rows for pat, substituting A in the following sequence: B, C, D, E, A, B, C, D, E and ending with 8th row of pat.

Lyvvie, 86 ch-3 sps means you should have 86 ch 3 sps. hope that helps & got to you before you took it apart.

I'd like to try this, but am very new to reading crochet instructions. I'm confused on row 6 - what does "86 ch-3 sps." mean?

The first chain of 260 is best made w/ a hook one size Larger, or simply make it looser. When you make your turns,,make sure you're making a stitch in the last turning chain. You can look on line to see how it's done and/or books can show you the right spot to make your last stitch before making the turning chain. I hope this helps.

very pretty how do you keep it from turning like a half moon not straight thats my problem crochet many rows not haveing them straight ?
