Rose Tissue Covers
Cover up the tissue box with a lovely crochet cover accented with a rose. This easy crochet pattern from Lily Sugar n' Cream comes in two sizes for the standard tissue box shapes. To create the cosmetic bag picture at bottom left, see the Rose Cosmetics Case Crochet Pattern.
Materials:
- Yarn: Lily Sugar ’n Cream (70.9 g/2.5 oz) Sizes: S (M)
Main color (MC) (Blue): 1 (1) ball
Contrast A (White): 1 (1) ball
Contrast C (Green): 1 (1) ball
Lily Sugar ’n Cream Ombres (56.7 g/2 oz)
Contrast B (Pink): 1 (1) ball
- Crochet hook: Size 4 mm (U.S. G or 6) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.
Sizes:
Small: to fit approx 4½ ins [11.5 cm] wide x 5 ins [12.5 cm] high box
Medium: to fit approx 9 ins [23 cm] wide x 3 ins [7.5 cm] high box.
Gauge: 14 dc and 6½ rows = 4 ins [10 cm].
Instructions:
Note: When changing colors, work to last 2 loops on hook of last st, then draw new color through rem 2 loops and proceed. When color is not in use, hold it across previous row and work over it.
SMALL BOX
TWO SIDES and TOP
With MC, ch 17.
**1st row: (RS). 1 dc in 4th ch from hook. 1 dc in next ch. *With A, 1 dc in each of next 3 ch. With MC, 1 dc in each of next 3 ch. Rep from * to end of ch, joining A in last dc. 15 dc. Turn.
***2nd row: With A, ch 3. Miss first dc. 1 dc in each of next 2 dc. *With MC, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc. With A, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc. Rep from * to end of row, joining MC in last dc. Turn.
3rd row: With MC, ch 3. Miss first dc. 1 dc in each of next 2 dc. *With A, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc. With MC, 1 dc in each of next 3 dc. Rep from * to end of row, joining A in last dc. Turn.
Last 2 rows form check pat.**
Work a further 8 rows in check pat (11 rows in total).
Divide for opening: Next row: (WS). With A, ch 3. Miss first dc. Pat across next 2 dc. With A, ch 9. Miss center 9 dc. Pat across last 3 dc, joining MC in last dc. Turn.
Next row: With MC, ch 3. Miss first dc. 1 dc in each of next 2 dc. Pat across next 9 ch. Pat to end of row. Turn.
Work a further 10 rows in check pat across 15 dc. Fasten off.
SIDE (make 2)
With MC, ch 17.
Work from ** to ** as given for Two Sides and Top.
Work a further 5 rows in check pat. Fasten off.
Joining: With WS of pieces facing each other, pin 8 rows of each Side edge to corresponding 8 rows along Main Section. With RS of Main Section facing, join MC with sl st to any corner through both thicknesses. Work 17 sc through both thicknesses up side, 15 sc across top and 17 sc down other side. Do not turn.
Next row: With A, ch 1. Working from left to right, instead of from right to left as usual, work 1 reverse sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
Rep on other side of Cover.
MEDIUM BOX
TWO SIDES and TOP
With MC, ch 35.
1st row: (RS) 1 dc in 4th ch from hook. 1 dc in next ch. *With A, 1 dc in each of next 3 ch. With MC, 1 dc in each of next 3 ch. Rep from * to end of ch, joining A in last dc. 33 dc. Turn.
Work from *** to ** as given for Two Sides and Top of Small Box.
Work a further 5 rows in check pat (8 rows in total).
Divide for opening: Next row: (RS). With MC, ch 3. Miss first dc. Pat across next 5 dc. With MC, ch 21. Miss center 21 dc. Pat across last 5 dc, joining A in last dc. Turn.
Next row: With A, ch 3. Miss first dc. 1 dc in each of next 2 dc. Pat across next 3 dc. Pat across next 21 ch. Pat to end of row. Turn.
Work a further 7 rows in check pat across 33 dc. Fasten off.
SIDE (make 2)
With MC, ch 17.
Work from ** to ** as given for Two Sides and Top of Small Box.
Work a further 2 rows in check pat.
Fasten off.
Joining: With WS of pieces facing each other, pin 5 rows of each Side edge to corresponding 5 rows along Main Section. With RS of Main Section facing, join MC with sl st to any corner through both thicknesses. Work 10 sc through both thicknesses up side, 15 sc across top and 10 sc down other side. Do not turn.
Next row: With A, ch 1. Working from left to right, instead of from right to left as usual, work 1 reverse sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
Rep on other side of Cover.
ROSE (make 1)
With B, ch 16.
1st row: (RS). 2 dc in 4th ch from hook. 3 dc in each ch to end of ch. Fasten off.
Coil rose to form rosebud and sew to Cover as shown in picture.
LEAF (make 2)
With C, ch 8.
1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 hdc in next ch. 1 dc in each of next 3 ch. 1 hdc in next ch. 1 sc in last ch. Fasten off. Sew 1 Leaf to each side of Rose as shown in picture.

This would make cold & flu season easier to deal with. At least bring a little smile to the suffer. Also for the allergy suffer like me... The rose is a nice touch....
