The Flowers of Spring Pillow

Materials:

• 195 yds. Eggshell Red Heart 4-ply yarn
• 130 yds. Spring Green Red Red Heart 4-ply yarn
• 15 yds. Light Blue Red Heart 4-ply yarn
• 12 yds. Light Lavender Red Heart 4-ply yarn
• 15 yds. Pale Rose Red Heart 4-ply yarn
• 15 yds. Petal Pink Red Heart 4-ply yarn
• 12 yds. Sea Coral Red Heart 4-ply yarn
• F and G crochet hook or size needed for gauge
• Tapestry Needle
• 14” Fiber filled Pillow
• Pattern

GAUGE: Square measures 4 3/4 ” across

STITCH GUIDE:
Chain (ch), Single Crochet (sc), Double Crochet (dc), Slip Stitch (sl st)

Instructions:
SQUARES (make 18 – see Color Placement Diagram)

1. Rnd 1 – With flower color and F hook ch 2, 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join to beg sc.
    
2. Rnd 2 – Ch 3, dc in same sp, *ch 2, 2 dc in next sc, rep from * around, join to top of beg ch 3 and fasten off.
    
3. Rnd 3 – With G hook join spring green with a sl st in any ch 2 sp, ch 2, (dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in same sp,  *ch 3, sc in next ch 2 sp, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in next ch 2 sp, rep fom * around,  join to top of beg ch 2.
    
4. Rnd 4 – Sl st into corner ch 3 sp, (sc, ch 3, sc) in same sp, *ch 3, sc in next ch 3 sp (2 times), ch 3, (sc, ch 3, sc) in corner ch 3 sp, rep from * around, join to beg sc and fasten off.
    
5. Rnd 5 – Join eggshell with a sl st in any corner ch 3 sp, ch 2, (2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same sp, *3 dc in each ch 3 sp across, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in corner ch 3 sp, rep from * around, join to top of beg ch 2 and fasten off.

JOINING

1. With eggshell whipstitch squares together having 3 rows of 3 squares each sewing every 2nd st  and making an X in square joinings. See Color Placement Diagram for Side 1 and Side 2.
    
2. Weave a 3-ply strand of spring green under each stitch of rows across and down and through  the X’s.

JOINING PILLOW SIDES AND EDGING

1. Rnd 1 – With wrong sides facing, crochet through both sides.
    
2. With G hook and spring green (sc, ch 3, sc) in dc before ch 3 corner sp, (sc, ch 3, sc) in  corner sp, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next dc, skip 2 dc, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next dc, rep until joining,  (sc, ch 3, sc) in ch before joining, (sc, ch 3, sc) in dc after joining, continue across entire side, rep pattern around entire pillow, join to beg sc.
    
3. Rnd 2 – Sl st into ch 3 sp, 2 sc in sp, ch 1, *(2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc) in corner ch 3 sp, ch 1, 2 sc in ch 3 sp, ch 1, continue across side, rep from * around entire pillow, join to beg sc and fasten off.
    
4. Rnd 3 – With F hook and eggshell sc in sc before ch 2 corner sp, (2 dc, ch 2, sc) in corner sp, sc  in 2nd sc, (2 dc, ch 2, sc) in ch 1 sp, continue across side, rep pattern around entire  pillow, join to beg sc and fasten off.
