Faux Grass Planter
You won't need to mow this lawn or even cut the grass when you make your own Faux Grass Planter. Learn how to build this grass planter for inside your home. Easy home crafts can make your space feel much more personal. You don't need expensive, heavy materials or supplies for the project. Instead, use Styrofoam and paint to fake the look of a ceramic planter. DIY home crafts like this one are deceptively easy to complete - all you need is a little patience. The greenery will help you relax and will remind you of spring when the temperature falls.
Materials:
- STYROFOAM™ Brand Foam Sheet, 36" X 12" X 1" or 36" X 12" X 1/2"
- Iron Graphite Texture Fierro™ Medium by DecoArt®
- Faux grass or desired greenery
- Serrated knife
- Candle stub or paraffin
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Toothpicks
- Water basin
- Paper towels
- Putty knife, 1"
- Low-temp glue gun and glue sticks
- Thick, white craft glue
Instructions:
- Using a pencil and ruler, mark the following pieces on the foam sheet: (2) 22" X 3"; (2) 4" X 3"; and (1) 22" X 4". Wax serrated knife with candle stub or paraffin and cut out marked pieces. Smooth cut edges with fingertips.
- Place 22" X 4" piece on flat surface; this will be your base. Using glue and toothpicks, attach four sides to base.
- Use putty knife to spread even coat of texture medium onto top and sides of foam planter. Let dry completely.
- If necessary, cut faux grass to fit container. Use glue gun to glue grass in planter. Hint: Extra foam pieces can be used to fill container, if needed.
Note:
- Measurements given are for a container measuring 22" long, 4" wide and 3" tall.
