Easy Paper Wreath

With bright green construction paper, glitter and some other glitsy materials you can create a paper wreath. Kathleen George shows us how to make a wreath. It can be used inside or outside and it would be a fun craft for the kids to do.

Materials:

  • STYROFOAM™ Brand Foam:
    • Balls, 1", 24
    • Beveled Wreath, 12" x 2" x 1"
    • Block or Sheet, scrap
  • Two sheets bright green construction paper
  • Origami paper, four sheets each: yellow green; dark green
  • Green floral wire
  • Ultra-fine glitter: hot pink; green; silver
  •
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Extra-long straight pins (optional)
  • 24 Wooden toothpicks
  • Paper trimmer or scissors and ruler
  • Spray adhesive
  • Large needle or needle tool
  • Wire cutters
  • Low-temp glue gun and glue sticks
  • Thick, white craft glue

Instructions:

  1. Spray dark green origami paper with spray adhesive; adhere yellow green sheets to dark green, creating double-sided paper.

  2. Use paper trimmer to cut double-sided paper and construction paper into 1" x 5" strips. (Or, measure strips with ruler and cut with scissors.) Use white glue to glue each strip into a loop; alternate outside color on origami paper loops.

  3. Use glue gun to glue loops to foam wreath; white glue may also be used, but loops will need to be pinned in place. Glue alternating shades of green onto wreath, overlapping loops approximately 1/2" to completely cover foam.

  4. Glue toothpicks into foam balls. Spread generous amount white glue onto each ball and roll in glitter; make 12 to 14 green, five or six pink, and five or six silver balls. Place toothpicks into scrap foam to let glue dry.

  5. Refer to photo to insert ornament toothpicks into wreath. If toothpicks don't go in easily, first poke hole through paper loop with needle or needle tool.

  6. Cut 5" length from wire. Twist ends together to form hanging loop. Glue loop to top center back of wreath.

I am a grandmother and I am making Fabric Wreaths, which I have been making them for about ten years. My Wreaths are made to customers request. They come in all sizes and colors. My customers tell me the colors are looking for. I am now trying to get them in Department Stories, and other Office's. Just waiting for final approver.

I've seen a similar wreath made with ribbon, but never with construction paper Another great idea Bookmarked it

I remember once as a kid we got poster board and cut out a big donut circle We then took newspaper and cut it into - inch squares with pinking shears Then we took the squares and wrapped it around the eraser end of a pencil Then we dipped it in glue and stuck it to the poster board circle After it was covered Mom set it up to dry overnight The next day she spray painted it green Then we made little dough ornaments and painted them We had little dough balls to look like holly berries and we made a thin snowman and ginger bread people My mom also made little fruit looking pieces to put on it We glued our ornaments to the wreath and my mom put a big bow on it It looked good and we were proud of it cause we all made it PeopleRead More who saw it wondered how we made that wreath and were surprise to learn it was newpapper squares that were painted green
