Upcycled Cake Box
This Upcycled Cake Box from Faber-Castell is a great way to turn an old box into something useful and fun. By using Gelatos to create this beautiful ombre effect, you can turn an ordinary box you might throw into the recycling bin into something colorful and useful. Use this upcycled cake box to store craft supplies, cookie cutters, or use it to hold a gift of cupcakes or another cake for a friend or family member.
Materials:
- Gelatos(r) Colors blue and green
- Cake box
- Wrapping tissue
- Gesso
- Buttons, blooms, charms, trinkets
Instructions:
-
I started by scrunching some wrapping tissue and adhering it to the box. Then I covered it with gesso and applied Gelatos(r) Colors in blue and green. I misted the background with some water, then used a paint brush to spread the colors.
-
Then I just went crazy with the embellishments to create my cluster. I think I might just create a coordinating album to put inside the box.

I love this. You did go nuts with the embellishments, but they just seem to all go together. An album to match would be delightful! What a perfect gift for a bride or for Mother's day, a birthday...oh heck, any occasion.

I like this! I'd like to see more projects using tissue paper. I save every bit that I get in gifts and even buy some if the colors are interesting. CJW
