Sea Life Cards

Alcohol inks help create a colorful background for these two sea life cards by Maria Nerius. Have fun experimenting with color and how colors blend.

Sea Turtle Card

Stamped Trigger Fish Cards

Materials:

  • Blank card for each 5 1/2” x 4 1/4” was used
  • Large butterfly trigger rubberstamp
  • Large sea turtle rubberstamp
  • Acetate
  • Glossy cardstock
  • Black cardstock
  • White cardstock
  • Alcohol inks magenta, lime green, cyan blue were used
  • Permanent black ink or Staz-On black ink
  • Fiskars paper trimmer
  • Glitter glue

Instructions:

  1. Stamp acetate with image. You are stamping the front of the acetate. Allow to dry completely, flip and add drops of alcohol ink to the back of the acetate. You can spread the inks by tilting the acetate, sponging it, or using a sponge brush. Clean any sponges immediately. Allow alcohol ink(s) to dry. Glitter glue was added to the alcohol ink and the Butterfly fish image. This adds some sparkle to the finished piece.

  2. Trim acetate to size. Butterfly fish was trimmed to 3 3/4” x 3”. Sea Turtle was trimmed to 4 1/2" x 3 ½”. Mat images onto white cardstock and trim. Mat images onto black cardstock with 1/4" to 1/8” border.

  3. Drop alcohol inks onto a piece of glossy white cardstock letting colors blend and merge together. Allow to dry completely. Now mat your image onto this colorful cardstock and trim with a 1/4” to 1/8” border. Mount to card front.
