FINISHING
Pin garment pieces to measurements.
Cover with a damp cloth, leaving cloth to dry.
Sew shoulder seams. Sew in sleeves.
Sew side and sleeve seams.
Edging: Note position of buttonhole at Right Front worked as follows: --- the following two rows explain how to do the button hole, as you work the edging you will need to make one buttonhole at the widest point of the bolero front. ----
Next row: (RS). (Buttonhole row). Pat 4 (5-5-6-6) sts. Cast off 2 sts. Pat to end of row.
Next row: Work in pat, casting on 2 sts over cast off sts.
--- the edging is worked over these 9 (11-11-13-13) sts only and sewn onto the front. It is easiest to make a long piece then sew it on as you work.
Cast on 9 (11-11-13-13) sts.
Work 4 rows in stocking st (knit on RS and purl on WS).
Work 4 rows in reverse stocking st (purl on RS and knit on WS). --- by working the 4 rows in this manner it will look like a ribbing all the way around the outside of the sweater ---
Rep last 8 rows of Ridge Pat until work fits outer edge of Body and noting position of buttonhole --- you need to fit the edging around the garment as you work, so that you know where to make the button hole --- at beg of Right Front V-neck shaping. Beg at right side seam, sew --- beginning at right side seam, sew the edging in position all the way around the outside of the body, back fronts, neck edge are all done in one long piece. ---
Edging in position as you work, easing to fit as necessary and ending with 8th row of pat. Cast off.
Sew cast on and cast off edges tog. Sew button to correspond to button-hole.

I knitted this and love it. The edging was very simple just pick stitches and knit.

I've made this four times and in several sizes and have adapted it for two different gauges of knitting machine. It puckers a bit on the curve where the button goes. On the other hand it lends itself to different yarns, gauges, sizes and knitting machines rather well.

I am joining along with the above people. I am afraid to try any other projects as I may run into the same problem of incomplete patterns. The sad part is no one is answering the comments left. Why have the comment area if no one is going to review it?

Finishing directions are terrible. Others have also had to ask for clarification and yet I have not recieved answer. I am left with a sweater that I took the time to knit and cannot finish it off.

I have no idea how to finish this off, like the others before me. Is the edging done separately then sewn on or i it done by picking up stitches? This is my first experience with your company and it is discouraging .... I have knitted a sweater that I cannot finish off! This is also the second time I am asking this question and have seen no response.....am I looking in the wrog place?

What was the answer to this question? I'm finished with knitting and sewing together, now how do I do the edging? Do I pick up stitches all around and if so how many?

I am confused about the edging on this bolero. I think that the directions say to knit it separately from the bolero and then sew it on. However, I don't understand how the directions above get the edging that seems to be the same as the cuff on the sleeves. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! PFallon
