Kid's Fur Cuffs or Boot Inserts
Alla Koval of My Little City Girl, independent knitwear and crochet designer specializing in unique kid's wear, shares this fun knitting pattern for kids. These fur cuffs can be worn on the wrist or used as boot inserts to keep kids warm and stylish through the winter.
Materials:
- Yarn: Gedifra Tecno Hair (100% Microfaser/50g • (1.75oz)/90m) or ANY other yarn about the same yardage - 1 ball; Cascade Fixation (98.3% cotton/1.7% • elastic/50g (1.75oz)/100yd relaxed or 186 yd stretched - 1 ball;
- clear stretch bead and jewelry cord (optional)
- Knitting needles: 23/4 MM (US size 2); 33/4MM (US size 3) or size to obtain correct gauge.
- Crochet hook: B-1/2.25MM
Sizes: one size up to 12 years
Gauge: approx. 12 rows x 8 sts = 1” x 1” inch with stretched yarn
Tension: Be sure to check your tension before starting to knit - if tension is to tight, change to large needles; if it is too lose, change to smaller needles.
FUR CUFFS (make 2)
Stretched part
With needles size 2 and Fixation CO 42 sts and work as foll:
Rows 1 - 16: K2, P2 rep from across.
Rows 17-18: K (garter sts). Fasten off, leaving 6-8” yarn tail.
Fur cuff
With needles size 3 and Tecno Hair continue work as foll:
Rows 19 - 36: K (garter sts) across. Loosely cast off all sts, leaving 10” yarn tail.
MAKE UP
Using yarn needle and yarn tail sew stretched and fur parts.
With RS facing and B-1/2.25MM crochet hook join jewelry cord in top edge of fur part at side seam, ch 1, sc evenly along fur edge (to fit cuffs
perfectly).
Weave in all ends.
