If you are staring down at a sewing pattern or tutorial that requires elastic, be sure to check out this video first. In this free sewing video, expert sewist, Angel Peterson, lays out the three most popular types of elastic and when you should use them. I've always reached out for the same elastic, the same one my mom used to make my skirts with or resize a pair of pants so I never knew I needed another type. I love how informative this video is, simply thought through so every beginner needs to watch this.

This was a super informative video about the different types of elastic - who knew, right?!! Thank you for the great information. I am putting in a casing elastic and using elastic from Louise Cutting to complete my project. Yaaay!!!!

You are so right this is a great video and everyone should watch it especially beginners. I have used wrong elastic before and had to take it off and had to take it out of casing because it was to stiff and the casing looked terrible. And some of the elastics I did not know about. I almost always use the knit one because like she said when in doubt use the knit. What about you? Very informative information.
