I love this idea for different shades of the same color. I had been wondering how to do this and know I know.

Oh, this is simply genius. I really want to try this out on a few old shirts I have. They could definitely use a little spruce. FaveCraftsTieDye

I would love to try this ombre technique on a boring white t-shirt. This looks much easier than the dip dye method. FaveCraftsTieDye

Another way to create an ombre effect is by using gravity. Some years ago I got bleach on the bottom of a new t-shirt. I bleached the rest of the bottom to remove all the color. I rinsed it well to remove bleach residue, then I mixed pink fabric paint with water in a spray bottle and sprayed over the bleached area. I hung the t-shirt upside down so the paint flowed into the still (blue) colored area. I did the same to the top with yellow paint and water. After everything dried I added a black stencil design, then ironed the shirt to set the paint.

Or dip the bottom 10 minutes, then move more 7 minutes, more 4 minutes, 2 minutes and then last for 30 seconds. You get the same effect.

I meant put bottom in the move up a few inches, and then a few more inches with those minutes seconds until you get to the top.
