The Valentine Amigurumi Heart is so cute I think anyone would love to receive one. The written directions here on this page are so easy to understand and whip up. I do worry about using the pipe cleaners when it comes to children though. The pipe cleaners have a small wire that could cause harm. I don't think I'll add them to the hearts I'll be making, just to be safe. Thank you so much for sharing this free crochet heart pattern.

Hi Spirit, we checked with the designer and here's what she said: Ch 1 (doesn't count as a stitch), skip 2 sc, sc in next 8 sc, sc3tog (that equals 1), sc in next 8 sc ...that comes out to 19 stitches, you do that twice = 38 sc. Or (2 + 8 + 1 + 8) x 2 = 38. Hope that clears things up.

You have to know how to crochet to make this. The instructions are not right starting at row 15. I tried it 7 times and the instructions state you end with 38 stitches, impossible. You start with 42, skip 2 sc 2 times so you just lost 2 stitches and you sc3tog 2 times so you lost 4 more stitches. It is cute though. I would recommend doing the hair in 3 different lengths and make 5 or 6 chains. I did the 4 in the same length, still cute, and tied them in place.
