You can get tins of buttons many times at local estate sales, and there is a website that tells you about sales in your area, then provides photos and lists of items for sale before you even step, out your door. This is a great way to get tons of buttons for cheap! I love this little cupcake idea, would be so cute in the kitchen!

Thanks for the hint, mulberrygalprincess! Buying buttons at a craft store can get expensive. I love this craft project. I'm going to look at the wood cutouts at my local stores and see if anything else appeals to me. Right now I'm thinking about decorating something with a beach or summer theme with bright colors of buttons.

What a great idea. I want to make one for my grand daughters room. She will love it. And a tip, before spending a lot of money on buttons check out your local thrift shops. I crochet purses and make jewelry so I am always on the look out for buttons. I have found some really nice ones at these shops. I got a coffee can filled with them for $2.
