    Instructions

CH any multiple of 2 (plus 1 for base chain). This will be the height (from top to bottom) of the ear warmer. The length (circumference around head) is determined by how many times Row 2 is repeated.

SUGGESTED HEIGHTS FOR EAR WARMER (TOP TO BOTTOM)
    TODDLER 4" (10 cm)
    CHILD 4–5" (10–13 cm)
    ADULT 5–6" (13–15 cm)

    1. ROW 1: skip 2 ch (counts as hdc), *sl st into next ch, hdc in next ch*, repeat between *. . .* to end of row, ending with sl st in last ch.

    2. ROW 2: ch 2, turn, skip first st, *sl st in next hdc, hdc in next sl st*, repeat between *. . .* to end of row, ending with sl st in top of turning ch (this last sl st will be almost on the side of the row).

    3. REPEAT ROW 2 until the ear warmer reaches desired length.

SEAM: ch 1, sl st the short ends together. Turn right side out.

NOTE: The “band” is worked exactly the same as Rows 1–2. The number of chains listed below can be adjusted for any size (ch any multiple of 2 plus 1 for base chain).

BAND: ch 7, repeat Rows 1 and 2 until the band reaches approximately 4" (10 cm). Wrap around ear warmer over seam, sl st ends together. When weaving in ends, attach to middle of back side of ear warmer (directly over seam) so it stays in place.

OPTIONAL BOW: Following same instructions as the ear warmer, make a shorter piece for a bow (slightly taller is best so it stands out against the ear warmer, and about 5–7" [13–18 cm] long). Pull through band and secure in place with tail end.

    WEAVE in ends.
