Photo Frame Christmas Signs
"We all have a photo or picture frames laying around the house that we keep because one day we will need them. Well, this project is a perfect way to use them up. These cute signs were made using recycled photo frames and an old plaid shirt. This is a cute and easy way to make your own unique signs. The quotes are vinyl decals make using a Cricut vinyl cutter and permanent 651 oracle vinyl."
Instructions
-
This is so easy to make and you can use any fabric or image as a background. I used an old plaid shirt that no longer fit.
-
Add some craft glue to the backing of the frame smooth it out and add your Fabric. My first one bombed because I did not smooth out the glue and it came through the fabric. Yuck!
-
If you don't already have a Cricut or a Silhouette vinyl cutter, I would highly recommend owning one. The projects you can make for your home are awesome. Type up the words you want into a text box in the Design space (Cricut's software). And cut them out on vinyl.
-
Remove all the excess vinyl that you don't want on the glass. This is called weeding.
-
Clean the photo frame glass with rubbing alcohol. Next, using transfer tape, put the tape over the words and rub with a scraper. The words will now be transferred over to the transfer tape.
-
Place the transfer tape onto the glass in the position you want and rub the tape with the scraper. This will make the words transfer over to the glass. Then put the frame back together.
-
I wanted my frames to stand up on their own, to do this I used small triangle offcuts of wood. These were glued to the back of the frame using hot glue.
-
I have always love the red Christmas truck which is not as popular in Australia, So I made my own. I found a free image on the internet and printed it onto some photo paper and glued it onto the fabric. A flower was added to the frame, which can also be decorated.
-
And that was the Christmas signs done. They were made to go onto the Corner Christmas tree that I made this year.
-
Another cool project you can make with your Cricut is these cute Flashing shadow boxes as seen on the Christmas tree shelf above.
Celebrate With More Christmas Craft Ideas
If you loved making the Photo Frame Christmas Signs, there are plenty of other festive crafts you can try your hand at this holiday season. Here are three ideas to get you started:
1. Mason Jar Snow Globes: Transform empty mason jars into adorable snow globes that make for charming Christmas decorations. Fill the jars with fake snow, miniature figurines, and glitter to create a winter wonderland scene. Add a touch of holiday cheer by tying a ribbon around the top of the jar and attaching a small jingle bell.
2. Handmade Christmas Ornaments: Get creative with personalized ornaments that will add a special touch to your Christmas tree. Use clear glass or plastic ornaments as a base and fill them with items like feathers, sequins, or tiny pom poms. You can also try your hand at hand-painting designs or writing festive messages on the ornaments.
3. Pinecone Wreath: Collect pinecones from your backyard or local park to create a rustic and charming Christmas wreath. Simply glue the pinecones in a circular pattern onto a foam wreath form, covering it completely. Add a festive bow or some twinkle lights for extra flair. This project is a great way to bring a touch of nature indoors and add a cozy feel to your holiday decor.
We hope these ideas inspire you to continue crafting and adding homemade touches to your holiday festivities. Happy crafting!
