DIY Jean Placemats Instructions

  1. Using the leg portion of your jeans, cut 6 strips of fabric about 16" long and 2" wide. Then, cut 8 strips that are 13" long and 2" wide.

  2. Weave the fabric pieces together. Do this by putting your fabric one over and one under and doing it the opposite direction for your next row.

  3. Once you finish weaving your strips, pin them all in place.

  4. To sew: sew up all the edges being sure to remove the pins as you approach them.

No sew option: apply the liquid stitch and glue down where you would typically sew.

Rustic chic is totally my kind of style and these denim placemats are PERFECT for that! I wonder how they might be able to hold up for heat resistance if I wanted to put a hot pan on it because sometimes I use my placemats for that!

What! No way. I looked at this and thought well maybe but then I watched the video an all you do is cut the fabric and weave it. So simple and fast and a very nice looking placemat that can be washed and dried. I like that you can also just glue this fabric for those who can not sew to create a nice looking set of placemats. These will make a great gift idea too or look stunning on your own table. Super great video and a written tutorial too.
