I tried making afghans using these patterns. Believe me, it is so simple. I already made 3 in different colors.

This is a very nice and colorful granny square afghan. The colors are muted and not drab but pretty and remind me of flowers. It has a different kind of look to it. Something about it that looks different- the square almost look like a flower! Red Heart SUper Saver is used, so this is a budget-friendly gift for a sweet senior citizen or a dear friend.

Granny squares have always fascinated me. I had a bit of bad luck the first time i tried it but I realized I had used the wrong yarn weight. I'm looking forward to trying this pattern out.

This afghan takes granny squares to a whole new level. What a beautiful choice of colors, it would look perfect in a sun room or when refreshing my house for Spring and Summer. Thanks for the inspiration.

I'm a definite beginner but was drawn to the colors in this afghan. I'd like to make it for one of my granddaughters. I also don't understand the "working over ch-3 of Rnd 3". Maybe a close-up picture would help?

I'm definitely a beginner and would love to see a video tutorial on this; is there a possibility of someone making one?

As I am trying to do my first afghan using a written pattern, I find myself having a little trouble. I usally do projects via Youtube so that I get a visual of what it looks like or how a certain stitch is done. I am new to crochet and have made all sorts of things, with the back up of Youtube. I was wondering if there is a tutorial on Youtube or any where eles for this afghan?

I really want to make this afghan as it will be my first. Would you recommend that I make all the different squares, number them and then attach? I'm not sure I understand what is meant by joining at round 5. do you mean to make the squares up to round 4 and then set aside until you are ready to join them all?

If you go to You Tube and type in, Beginning Crochet, you will get tons of hits. You want, and I hope it's okay to post these names, Crochet Geek, also known as tjw1963. Mikeyssmail, hectanooga1, Crochet Cabana. There are hundreds more, but these are my favorites for clear and concise instructions. Granny Squares are a wonderful way to get started. Education is all over. The above mentioned You Tubers will give you good life-long habits and they are free. You cannot beat that.

Not every crocheter has the option to watch You Tube tutorials while they are crocheting. Just a glossary would help.

I understand all of your terms I am a beginner slash intermediate. I was just wondering after round 3 and 4 you have 2 more round 3s. Did you mean rond 5 and 6 I assume?

I'm working on this one now. I'm not a huge fan of granny square afghans (I mean, some are gorgeous; some have no balance to the colors) but, when you have the right color combinations, it can be a winner. And this one is. The color combination is what made me spring to do this one. Even though I don't look forward to attaching all the squares. But it will be a beauty when finished. Good job, Red Heart!

I love the colors you have used, just makes me want to start another afghan! Believe me, I have NO business starting another, 4 going at the moment! Have never used a treble to make a granny, but when I get done with my backlog, I'll be trying this out. Thanks for the pattern :O)

The Blocks show how the squares will be laid out to put your afghan together. Each number represents the square you made ie 5 #2 squares, etc. The treble stitch is the same as a triple stitch. You can see a demonstration at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4xplEBGowg

Hi I am thinking of making my first granny square afghan. Have made afghans before and reading over the instructions. I noticed it the block that has all the numbers in it, does anyone know what that is for ? ? ? and what is a treble stitch ? I might be in over my head working on a granny square afghan.. Anyway thanks

Your glossary is woefully inadequate. A beginner has no idea what any of those terms mean. Do not call it a beginner project as there is no way a person whom never has crotcheted before could make the project without clearer explanation.

Well, do you think you are a beginner or a non-crocheter? If you have NO idea of basic terms you are not a crocheter!

Many patterns do include this information. Check the internet or books of patterns for a glossary and print one out to use with patterns that don't have this basic information. Beginners in fact may not have this information, especially if they learned to crochet from someone who does not use those terms. I have friends who began that way.
