Congratulations! then the pattern worked if it was your intention to confuse everyone. Haha. No Please Seriously! write it over so everyone can understand! thanks in advance

@leonorebosman 5348 766 I understand that crochet abbreviations can be very confusing! lp refers to the loop stitch in this case. Hope that helps! -Kaylee, Editor of FaveCrafts.com

If this pattern is so difficult, why is it on the site. Too many of us have trouble with patterns as is.

This pattern is poorly written! The instructions are awful. Why not have someone actually make the project using these instructions BEFORE posting?

Also forgot to add that the Pattern Stitch Row 1 says it is on the wrong side....but Row 2 of the pattern is the bobble and that has to be made on the wrong side so that it shows on the right side when you are done. So, make sure you are making your bobbles on the wrong side and mark Row 1 as the Right side.

How could anyone publish a pattern with such messed up directions? Anyhow, I finally figured it out, made it with Lion Brand Super Soft (the cheapo stuff) and it is absolutely beautiful. The gauge with this yarn was just about perfect. I made the sleeves only 3/4length. Will make it again and try to curve the front edge at the top and bottom. If you have problems with the pattern read everyone's comments, they have about covered them all. Biggest thing is to make sure you make the double crochets at the beginning and end of EACH row.

Regarding the sleeves - this is from Coats and Clark If you look at the pattern you will see a section titled Left Front The pattern is telling you to start the foundation row and to work Row on the sleeve the same way you worked the foundation row and row of the left front If you are working the small or medium sizes in the jacket you will follow the directions for the medium size of the left front as both start with chains If you are working the large size you will follow the directions for the large size of the left front since both start with chains Once you have worked the foundation row and the first row you should then follow the directions for the increases on the sleeves You will increase stitch at each end of the next row this would be Row of the pattern…Read More stitch then every third row times for the small times for the medium or times for the large working each row in the established pattern If you work the stitches correctly you will have stitches on each side of the pattern on the small stitches on each side of the pattern for the medium or stitches on each side of the pattern for the large Work even no further increases until the whole sleeve from the foundation chain measures the specified length for the size you are making

I have finished the front and back, but am stumped on the sleeve. What does this mean: SLEEVES: Ch 33 (33, 37). Work Foundation row and Row 1 same as for 2nd (2nd, 3rd) size of Left Front. What is the 2nd size of the Left Front? I have made the sleeve three times now and it is VERY LONG like gorilla arms. Please help. This is such a cute jacket.

I posted a comment, but may be confusing, try again... The foundation row and the Row 1 are worked first, Do those first. Then, on each row, the dc you worked in the foundation row will be in same place on every row, going up; but in between those dc, you will use one of the 4 Pattern Stitch rows , starting with Pattern Stitch Row 1. These are described at beginning of 'Instructions' (work Pattern stitches in between those groups of dc on every row). It takes 4 rows of crochet to see all of the pattern, then it repeats. Looking at the jacket helps.

The foundation row and the Row 1 are worked first, but the instructions were not written in that order. Do those first. You will work those dc groups on every row, but work the dc groups between the Pattern Stitch Rows 1 thru 4 on each row alternately. I am up to the armholes, and will start working the rest till it is 16" from beg. but that seems a bit too long. I will do as it says, and see how it works out.

I was so excited when I saw this pattern then I read the instructions!!! There is no starting row. How do you "chain 2" and then sc in ch-4 sp?????

Apparently they neglected to put in the first step of ch 4, sl st in first ch to make a loop.

It looks like I've figured it out, but I had to read some things "into" it. Was anyone able to find the specified yarn? I've had to use a substitute for lack of being able to find this on or off the internet. Would love to know how I could get it, though. I don't even care if it's white.

It's VERY confusing. It doesn't tell you what to do with the single crochet in the second row of the pattern stitch. It should either give you something to do there, or "say" skip next sc. I totally get the part about repeating the dc's on top of the row before, but the pattern stitches just do not work. It's incoherent and unusable this way.

I too am confused. Is there anyone out there who can write the instructions so we can understand them. My granddaughter loves this but I can't figure it out. Help.

I think I have this figured out. Pattern stitches are worked on each row AFTER the double crochets and then you work row 2 of pattern stitch into the 7 double crochets of the "scallop" pattern of the previous round. Once I figured out that the "fan" or scallop were the double crochets they discussed, it all fell into place. I then finished the row doing the bobbles in the pattern stitch (fan) and regular double crochets in the double crochets from the previous rows. The next row, row 3 of pattern stitch) I repeated the double crochets from the previous rows, then started row 3 of the pattern stitch after completing the double crochets and only worked the pattern stitch on top of the previous rows of pattern. HTH someone out there.

I am also confused on this pattern. Reading from the row 1 after the foundation row, it says to "work in dc and appropriate rows of pat until 6 & 1/2 inches." What are "appropriate rows of pat"? There is something missing. Working foundation row again doesn't work and working row 2, 3 and 4 of pattern stitch also does not work. Are we to go back to foundation row?, Row 1 after foundation row or pattern stitch? Where are the bobbles worked? On the dc's or the pattern stitch? Totally confusing. Please help. I want to make this for my granddaughter.

I am confused by this pattern. I have completed the foundation row and row 1. What does it mean when it says "Work in dc and appropriate rows of pat until 61/2 (61/2, 7)" from beg, end wrong side row."? I have attempted row 2 of the pattern stitch, but it only covers a few of the double crochet stitches in row one. Am I supposed to continue row 1 of the pattern stitch until it measures 61/2 inches? I love the look of this jacket, but am confused. Please help!! -Thanks!

You are reading the pattern stitch instructions...read a little further to the back directions for your chain. Good luck

This jacket looks lovely, but I'm confused right from the start! It "says ch2 then single crochet in ch4 space". What ch4 space? I don't get it.
