Colorful Crochet Scarf

This multi-colored crochet scarf from Patons is bold and beautiful.  It uses classic wool yarn, so it will keep you nice and warm in the cold winter months. This is an easy level project that looks professional and is fun to wear.  You could even use more muted colors to create an easy crocheted scarf for the man in your life.  The great thing about this pattern is that it's easy to change to suit your needs, and all the colors make it great for matching with all your favorite winter outfits!

Materials:

• 2 balls Patons® Classic Wool yarn in Mercury (MC)
• 1 ball Patons® Classic Wool yarn in Wisteria (A)
• 1 ball Patons® Classic Wool yarn in Currant (B)
• 1 ball Patons® Classic Wool yarn in Lemongrass (C)
• 1 ball Patons® Classic Wool yarn in Aquarium (D)
• 1 ball Patons® Classic Wool yarn in Water Chestnut (E)
• Size 5 mm (U.S. H or 8) crochet hook, or size needed to obtain tension

Gauge:  14 sc and 16 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].

Instructions:
Approx 10 x 76 ins [25.5 x 193 cm].
Note: Scarf is worked lengthwise.

1. With MC, ch 260.
    
2. 1st row: (WS).1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of ch. Turn. 259 sc.
    
3. 2nd to 5th rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
    
4. 6th row: Ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. *Ch 3. Miss next 2 sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * to end of row. Join A. Turn. 86 ch-3 sps.
    
5. 7th row: With A, ch 3 (counts as dc). *Miss next sc. 3 dc in next ch-3 sp. Rep from * to last sc. 1 dc in last sc. Join MC. Turn.
    
6. 8th row: With MC, ch 1. 1 sc in first dc. *Ch 3. Miss next 3 dc. 1 sc between 3rd and 4th dc. Rep from * to last 4 dc. Ch 3. 1 sc in last dc. Turn.
    
7. Rep last 2 rows for pat, substituting A in the following sequence: B, C, D, E, A, B, C, D, E and ending with 8th row of pat.
    
8. Next row: With MC, ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. *2 sc in next ch-3 sp. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * to end of row. 259 sc. Turn.
    
9. Next row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
    
10. Rep last row 3 times more.
     
11. Fasten off.
     
12. Edging: 1st row: (RS). Join MC with sl st to top right corner of Scarf. Ch 1. Work 32 sc evenly down side edge of Scarf. Turn.
     
13. 2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc across. Turn.
     
14. Rep last row 3 times more. Fasten off.
     
15. Rep for opposite side.
